About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Enjoying another Minnesota summer. Getting the most from my gardens.
ABOUT ME
We are two Middle Americans, Neil and Connie. If you come here, it will be more like "house surfing" than couch surfing. The main house was a vacation rental. If you come when the house is vacant, you get the whole house. Nice for a group outing. If the house happens to be full when you stop by, we do have a very comfy leather couch.
We love life on the lake in "Greater Minnesota". We are trying to promote Rural Couchsurfing. Our place is exactly halfway between Minneapolis and Fargo, about 20 miles south of Interstate 94.
Neil & Connie like to travel and host interesting people. We do have a need for house sitters from time to time.
PHILOSOPHY
Life is short, enjoy all that it has to offer. Cheers, Salud, Sláinte, Peace.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I think we have discovered our CS niche. We try to connect with other CSer whenever possible, and recruit new members. Since we live "in the sticks" here in Minnesota farm country, we don't have many requests. We encourage people to make this a destination, and stay for at least a few days. Also would like to organize others in the area. Neil was the moderator of the Rural Couchsurfing USA: Minnesota group.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Summer '09 we spent a night with Deb & Dan near Nisswa, MN and two nights at FINCA SARAMANDAIA in Coata Rica. We had seven great CS stays on our Winter '09 road trip. From the Mississipps Delta to the Gulf Coast of Texas to majestic rocks of Sedona, Canyon de Chelly and the Rockie Mountains. We also continue to have similar experiences with members of our other international group, the Hash House Harriers. Previously we have found hashers to put us up in London, Edinburgh, Boston and New Orleans. On road trip '09 we added new hash friends in New Orleans, Houston, El Paso, and Tucson. Great hosts in the Nederlands, Scotland, London and Kent in 2014.
In turn, we have hosted a number of hashers and a few CSer visiting Minnesota, including a family of seven! February 2010 we hosted the snow fort invasion. July 2011 we hosted our first surfer from outside of North America. We hope to be able to host many more, and with an entire three bedroom house empty, we have plenty of room. Come up to Minnesota and see why we love it here.
