About Me

CURRENT MISSION

"THE ENDLESS ROAD IS THE ONLY ROAD WORTH TRAVELING." SUFIC SAYING.

ABOUT ME

My body is biodegrading, but the mind seems to still function reasonably well. I'm a Progressive (see Liberal), well-read, film literate, a procrastinator, have a loving family, like Robert Louis Stevenson I enjoy the sense of movement, the physical fact of being in motion, latent with anticipation. I am a fast talker (nineteen-to-the-dozen ala Martin Scorcese). Trying to be a good listener. Most of us, when conversing, are just waiting for the other person to pause so we can say our piece. One of my best attributes is persistence. I recently hitched a ride in a semi in Senegal to the Mali border at 4 am. This is not travel for the faint-hearted.

PHILOSOPHY

Never buy anything from someone who's out of breath.

Music, Movies, and Books

From The Great Train Robbery (1903), Birth of a Nation, Greed, Public Enemy, Maltese Falcon, Citizen Kane, White Heat, Ace in the Hole, On the Waterfront, Paths of Glory, Dr.Strangelove, Bonnie & Clyde, Bunuel's L'Age d'Or, Persona, La Dolce Vita, Breathless, Rashomon, Blow-up, Chinatown, Salesman, The Godfather, Godfather II, and countless others.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was alone in traversing the Himalayas via the Annapurna Trek in June, 2000.I had to sleep in a filthy, freezing, stone hut atop the mountain ( 5,416 meters--approx. 17,872 feet) sitting (no sleeping bag or tent), wet, with a little water, granola, chocolate and a short-wave radio with the comforting voice of the BBC.

Teach, Learn, Share

With countless films (from the Lumieres in the 1890S to the latest releases)viewed over a lifetime I can share my passion for movies and perhaps learn from you. Finding books on the road you may never have unearthed at home can be serendipitous. Let's exchange or gift the books we care about.
