About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To experience the world and write it all down

ABOUT ME

I'm a little shy but open up once you get to know me. I'm pretty organized and routine, if a bit weird. Iâ

PHILOSOPHY

I'm an idealistic pessimist. I want things to work out wonderfully, but I don't think they will. So I create at least five back-up plans so that even if I don't get quite where I meant to, it still works out.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I used to have a couch listed with my old roommates but because my email address on couchsurfing is linked to a defunct one and I've been trying to get it updated for years, it's been hard for me to be connected on the website. Hopefully, it'll get cleared up soon and I'll actually be notified now when people want to stay with me.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've only couchsurfed once through this website, but had a great experience. Outside of the couchsurfing project, I've had some great people have take me in when I needed a place to stay. Especially Melissa, who took me in for a week when my car broke down on her exit.

Interests

I care a lot about the environment and social justice issues. I've worked for about three years in Albany on activist issues including Campus Greens, Students for Workers Rights, Kick Coke Campaign, and Food Not Bombs. I'm involved in an collective space in Albany that hosts workshops, skillshares, art for First Friday, free community meals, and music shows.

Music, Movies, and Books

Jean Giono's Song of the World, Gabriel Garcia-Marquez's One Hundred Years of Solitude, Thomas Bernard's The Loser, Charles Dickens' Great Expectations, Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I visited the Grand Canyon and saw the most perfect night sky ever.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a lot of hobbies that I've collected over the years. I used to make simple jewerly, paint, and draw. Now, I've started doing linocut printmaking, self-publishing small zines, crocheting projects and am an amateur herbalist. I've never gotten very good at photography though. I'm terrible at languages but I've given at least three a shot. I used to know a bit about bike mechanics and I could probably still find my way around a bicycle.

Countries I’ve Visited

Ireland, Spain, United Kingdom, United States
