ABOUT ME

We are a couple with a 2 year old son and with an old beautiful house in the center of Winnipeg. Since we come from different cultures, it comes natural to us to travel and visit friends and family all over the world. We are "between" 33 and 40 in age and we don't both speak all the languages mentioned, lol, yet...

PHILOSOPHY

We both always believe the best in any situation and in most people. We are very positive individuals who see possibilities in all situations.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Awesome.
We loved being able to couchsurf in Africa. We travelled on a budget and stayed in a tent and rather shitty guesthouses, so it made the world of a difference to us when we once in a while could stay with a local (couchsurfing) family and get a sense of that homy feeling. The people we stayed with could tell us tons of stories from the local area which also made us feel like we got to know the place where we stayed.

Sometimes we cook for our hosts, sometimes they cook for us, sometimes we do our separate things, but we always always truly appreciate the great experience of popping up in someone elses lives and homes and seeing how different each and everyone lives.

Music, Movies, and Books

Rikke telling:
When I read it is most often books about child psychology, but I did enjoy Life Of Pie, Falling on Your Knees (canadian author) and Veronica Decides To Die.
Looking at Maciej's shelf I see Collapse by Jared Diamond - and then he is studying Danish at the moment (for fun). We have Adbuster AND The Economist on the shelves as well, just to get both sides of the story (I guess we are missing something in the middle)
Music - ahhhhhh, Maciej could go on and on about it. If you like music, he is great company. Tell him you hate Pink Floyd and you have an hour long discussion going

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We are in Namibia. We arrive to the Namib dessert in the evening in the dark. We get up before the sun and drive towards the dessert. The car cannot drive any further. We get out and start walking. The sun rises AND WE DISCOVER WE ARE SURROUNDED BY SAND. That was absolutely amazing and beautiful. Huge sand dunes everywhere. We ran around like crazy, climbed a sand dune, laughed, took pictures, we are now in love with desserts.
