My partner Patrice, our almost two year-old little boy and I normally live in Northern Canada, in Yellowknife. We're currently on a six month-long Circumpolar trip; I'm an artist in residence in different locations and Pat is hanging out with our son. In November and December we are living in Lapua, Finland, and then we will be in Russia in January and February and then in Greenland and Iceland.
We're excited to visit and experience different norths all around the world! While at the different residencies, we're taking some side trips and that's when we're hoping to couchsurf.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Pat and I couch surfed a fair amount back in 2009 and 2010 when travelling in Canada, the US and Mexico. It was a great way to meet people and to experience new places. (I then left this account inactive for way too long and the site has changed since which is why all our contacts and comments from back then are long gone).
We've spent the past few years living in a tiny little cabin with no rooms and no running water, so we weren't hosting, but we hope that when we return home in the spring and move into a bigger place, we can have people come and stay with us.
We're excited to host (and be hosted) as a family. Our little guy is very friendly and we want to continue to foster his openness to new people!
When couchsurfing, I'm always happy to share a drink and chat and hang out, but we're also fine being independent and self-sufficient. We're flexible and easy going - whatever works best for you!

Interests

I like to be outside and to draw and to ride my bike and to hike. I'm not really a big city person and dogs and friends and bonfires make me happy.

I'm here to catch a brief glimpse of your North - I'd be happy to share about mine.
I have travelled a lot all around northern Canada and the Canadian Arctic and if you are interested in other norths, that's definitely experiences I am happy to chat about.
Also, we just spent several years living in a tiny cabin with no running water - and even had a baby in the process - so if you're interested in that kind of simple living, we can share our experience of that too.
