About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Skiing, working, and having fun!

ABOUT ME

I'm a journalism graduate from the University of Colorado at Boulder who's currently working as a ski instructor. I'm big, gregarious, and love a good conversation about everything from politics to religion to philosophy. I enjoy sports, games, and simply experiencing life.

PHILOSOPHY

In the end, happiness is the most important thing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've always had an open door policy at my house for friends and hope that I can extend that same courtesy to travelers and fellow surfers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Though most couchsurfers I met while traveling were too busy to host, several were happy to get together and have food and fun. While in Munich, we met a pair of couchsurfers who were also there for Oktoberfest. A few weeks later, they graciously hosted us in Lyon, France. It was fantastic.

Interests

You name it, I've dabbled in it. I enjoy discussing politics, religion, philosophy, morality, the media, and I never run from a good argument.

I'm a big sports fan, though it's mainly American sports: baseball, basketball, American football, and hockey. I'm always interested to learn about new ones (like Thailand's Takraw!).

I really enjoy cooking, and would happy to cook you up something, on request.

Music, Movies, and Books

I could restrict myself to just a few, as I'm a media junkie, former film student and radio DJ, so here are some of my favorites.

Movies: UHF, City of Lost Children, Amelie, BASEketball, Michael Clayton, O Brother Where Art Thou! (and every other Coen Brothers movie), Gosford Park, Lovers of the Arctic Circle, Mighty Aphrodite (and many Woody Allen films), Chasing Amy.

Music: Cake, Jamiroquai, Charles Mingus, the Cardigans, Mylo, Ursula 1000, Extreme, They Might Be Giants, George Gershwin, Prokofiev, Tally Hall, Air, Ye-Ye, Junior Senior.

Books: Samarkand by Amin Malouf, The Adventures of Kavalier and Clay by Michael Chabon, Aeneid by Virgil, Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, American Gods by Niel Gaiman, A Scanner Darkly by Philip K. Dick.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm not sure it's really the most amazing thing I've ever done, but my favorite thing to do and the thing I'm most proud of is making my friends smile.

Teach, Learn, Share

Always drink your coffee black. You can get coffee anywhere, but you can't always get cream or sugar. (advice from my grandfather)
