About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to see what I can see

ABOUT ME

A man in Moscow told me I was 'soft on the inside', which is probably true, both literally and metaphorically. However I'm also cynical and hardbitten...

PHILOSOPHY

I live my life trying to avoid questions about 'my personal philosophy'

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Mainly by meeting exciting people in exciting places. I haven't done any hosting yet but I hope to when I finally get a place to call my own.

I'm in a post-university slump (which means living at home, people) so I can't offer a couch, but I LOVE coffee. And drinking. So either of those would be good

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

kareoke with couchsurfers in Shanghai...duck's tongues (roots and all) with couchsurfers in Canton...singing on the metro in Paris...

Interests

I like music. Of the 'indie' variety. I also like films, books, and other assorted media.

  • books
  • singing
  • coffee
  • drinking
  • movies
  • music
  • communications

Music, Movies, and Books

I watch very silly films that I'm ashamed to admit to.

Books: very important. Despite being mid-way through an English literature masters, I still actually like reading for pleasure! Favourite authors (currently) are Rosamond Lehmann, Elizabeth Bowen, Virginia Woolf, TS Eliot, Oscar Wilde and so on...but despite this highbrow list, Harry Potter still has a place in my heart.

music: despite my friends' regular attempts to instill in me musical taste, I continue to fall back in to lazy habits and uninspired music - mainly listening to the same thing over and over again.

It may not be cool, but I really like Glee :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

went three days without washing on a train to Irkutsk.

slept in a yurt in Mongolia and saw more stars than I've ever seen before in my life
