About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To experience community across the country, to explore the world outside of my hometown!

ABOUT ME

I grew up outside of Dayton, OH in the middle of a cornfield, in that typical Ohio way. My whole life I wanted to see all the places in the geography books (the pictures always distracted me. I suck at geography) and I am hoping to, with the aid of couchsurfing!! Honestly, I am pretty shy and often quiet. I am not a 'party' girl-I don't drink or even typically stay up past midnight. I love historic sites, graveyards, churches with good architecture, Free School classes, parks/woodlands/outdoors, walking, hiking, I have never really biked much really but the times I have have been super fun (although hills are hard for me still), and learning or teaching something new.

PHILOSOPHY

One of the favorite quotes I've seen is "From each according to ability, to each according to need."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Well, so far I have only had contact with 3 other members of couchsurfing, but all have been wonderful (one I even met because he was a fellow ride from a Craigslist ad) so I hope to have more!!

Interests

Travelin', parks, hiking, kayaking/canoeing (not white water), treasure hunting, interesting buildings especially churches, learning more about working the land, bonfires, camping (even urban), square dancing (I've always want to try line, too!). Nothing grits my nerves like "there's nothing to do in this town." EVERY town has something for a stranger to see or do, even if it is something small.

Music, Movies, and Books

Old movies, bad action movies, especially fdrom the 80s and ealry 90s(I will always love Sylvester Stallone, I can't help it) or post-apocaplypse movies. I'm partial to country music (not like radio country, but old country, bluegrass, hillbilly, rockabilly) but I will enjoy almost anything. If I know the words to a song-beware. I WILL sing it. My book taste has seemingly no pattern. Whatever catches my fancy at the time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once, in Salt lake City, I crawled through drainage tunnels until it popped us out almost at the top of a mountain (not a HUGE mountain, but a mountain by technical standards none the less). The next day I hiked up the mountain in daylight.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can make soap, sew (not a seamstress, but enough skills to make an awful lot of useful things), and I'm always learning more of pyschology, neuroscience, and insect identification (kind of a weird combination.) I have slight experience in raising chickens and goats and composting for gardening. I can also bind my own books for journals and things. I would like to learn more outdoor ventures such as sailing, or rock climbing, or other farming work.
