ABOUT ME

I am just your avg guy. I just got of an organization called Mercy Ships. I worked on it as a deckhand for 9 months. The Africa Mercy, the ship i worked on, is a hospital ship that concentrates in Africa (suprise) West Africa mainly. They are currently in Liberia, a country which just came out of a civil war, and provide free surgeries for the poor. They do everything from dental, eye surgery, Maxillo Facial, ETN, Hernias and also general surgeries. It was a lot of fun and a great experience.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It was truly amazing to see in the old organization i worked with Mercy Ships. The profound impact we could have on an indivduals life and on a nation in general. Just to see a childs smiling face after they repaired his cleft lip. Or the laughter of a patient that had a tumor wieghing 3-5 pounds removed from their face. Or the beatiful singing of a VVF patient that has gone through the ordeal of having urine and feces drip from her body for years. And is now able to parade around the ward with her head held high. Knowing that those shameful days are over. Just thinking it is amazing what people can do when they work together. It is quite a crazy idea that when i worked with Mercy Ships i was contributing a small bit to providing some one with a life changing surgery. That in itself is amazing
