Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Over the last decade, I travelled a lot via Couchsurfing which was retrospectively and still is in my opinion an incredible way to travel. It takes away the strangeness of a place which appears less closed-up. Of course, sometimes I like to keep the secret of a new place, want to discover it unfiltered, get overwhelmed by new places, want to keep my own approach - but Couchsurfing has never really influenced that in any disturbing way, quite on the contrary.
- now that I have my own flat in Berlin and are more than happy to welcome guest at my place. I do travel still quite a lot, but please don't hesitate to ask me and we'll see if I'm around or not!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I started doing Couchsurfing on a big Scandinavian trip after my school graduation, I met a lot of coffee drinkers in the following years when I was living in bigger cities,
from time to time doing some surfing in diverse cities that cross my way and in which I don't have friends yet... was all wonderful!

Interests

generally interested in everything that people do, say and think...and my contribution to that
I'm interested in people's behavior, social constraints, people's ideas about themselves and their environment, their point of view towards their personal lives and the lives of people in their surrounding, the society they live in; approaches to change, points of realization, moments of decision making, helping others, being honest with myself and to others
My life evolves around films, film-making and talking about films, but as this is the art that brings all the other arts together don't consider this as a limitation.
I like to be physical active, run and swim, contemplate seriously about learing to meditate (I feel it is time for that)

Music, Movies, and Books

a lot...I really like John Maus, Einstürzende Neubauten or The Brian Jonestown Massacre these days, but honestly all music genres have a lot to offer
I'm into movies from all decades and countries...mostly art/experimental movies, so called auteur films, love directors from the Italian and French peak season in the history of cinema, the 60s. Antonioni, Pasolini, Godard..you name it Eric Rohmer is one of my favorite directors for example. Fassbinder was incredible..there's a lot. But I am definitely not stuck in this decade.
I wrote my thesis on Alexander Kluge and the Dardenne brothers, definitely worth an examination!
I do like critical documentaries and contemporary mostly crime series like True Detective, The Wire or naturally Twin Peaks.
finished infinite jest by david f. wallace..who would have guessed that
I read as much feminist / theory / philosophy on the side as I can

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

seeing friends' child growing up is rather amazing..but that is rather a passive thing.. motorbiking through vietnam was fantastic!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can tell you everything about the history of cinema if that interests you... teach you the languages I know
