About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To help others communicate without embarrassing themselves, to afflict the comfortable, and live to be 100, all without ever eating a corn dog.
ABOUT ME
I'm not really old; I've just been around a long time. I have had several careers in several industries, including model making, journalism, education, paint & coatings, mail order, retail, medical insurance, construction, real estate, collectibles, and hospitality management. Currently I am a seriously underemployed freelance editor, primarily of educational materials. Not counting current clients or summer jobs, of the 12 companies that have employed me over the years, 8 are now out of business. It's not my fault!
I thrive on novelty.
Couldn't care less about sports.
Prefer cultural attractions to bars.
PHILOSOPHY
90% of everything you have ever been told is a lie.
Maturity comes from dealing with this, and seeking the truth, rather than defending what comforts you.
The top three lies of all time, in no particular order:
+ "The people in charge know what's best!"
+ There is somebody, somewhere, who actually knows what is going on, and is secretly in control of things.
+ God Almighty has personally and publicly endorsed the Holy Bible as a perfect substitute for Himself.

Music, Movies, and Books
SO many books. Mostly nonfiction and genre fiction (SF, mysteries)
Movies and TV: Backlog city; my VCR watches a whole lot more than I do.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once shot a bear in my pajamas.
How he got into them, I'll never know. :D

Dangerous-but-true advice: The mistakes of my youth that I most regret are the ones I was too timid to make.
