About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to reciprocate the generousity that has been shone to me through all my travels

ABOUT ME

i prefer not to sit still. Little in my life falls into the "routine" category except maybe my morning coffee ritual and my mat-pilates exercises. My obsessions include, but are not limited to, working out at the gym 5 days a week, rummaging through thrift stores, trying on clothes, cleaning and organizing, writing letters, tattooing on people and drawing on everything (I think you know when you made the right career choice when what you do for a living is exactly what used to get you in trouble for as a kid). I'm lucky enough to earn a living for other random odd jobs I enjoy, such as house cleaning, yard work, mural painting, etc. Although when I'm in one place for any length of time my passion is bar tending and waitressing though I'm choosier about where I like to do that) I've traveled a lot and broke even along the way by doing everything from farm work to face painting. i keep things in my life simple by never owning too much stuff and (so far) never committing to anything too serious that I feel tied down. I'm free of guilt and regrets and full of optimism and spontaneity. i have a 6-year-old shih tzu named levi, (who has a bigger personality than anyone i know) who i got as a gift when he was 6 weeks old, two pounds, and fit in my pocket. he's a little bad-ass and he loves everyone! (except other little dogs)

PHILOSOPHY

all things have a balance.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

it's important that people "network" and maintain a sense of community even while traveling. it's exciting to think about the benefits of couch surfing, vs. spending money on a hotel, especially corporately owned. the money you save there can be more productively spent in the community you are visiting and you get to experience locals. pretty sweet deal.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

i've had good luck couch surfing. people are surprisingly very trusting, trustworthy, generous and inspiring.

Interests

physical fitness and good health, cooking with natural, whole foods, being outside with my dog, taking road trips, and self expression.

Music, Movies, and Books

Love lots different kinds of books/movies. Mostly classic stuff like Gone with Wind and books by Steinbeck...but I just read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series and I gotta say, wow. Surprisingly incredible but I would in now way suggest the movie/s. Absolutely nothing like the book. Of course I'm passionate about Neil Young, Bob Dylan and the Beatles...but I mostly listen to Tupac, Pantera, Slayer, Lamb of God, and Stealy Dan.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The chance to herd cattle up the coast at low tide in Alaska for 14 miles was pretty amazing. Also back packing in Europe when I was 19 was great. The best things though are just the small places I've lived and worked and the random people I'm met along the way.

Teach, Learn, Share

i would like to be able to offer things to other people while traveling. i've been able to share pilates exercises, help rake up leaves, prune a raspberry patch and even leave behind some tattoos on folks. it feels good to have something to leave behind.
