About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To remain curious and learn the hard way

ABOUT ME

I recently finished studying studio art and painting for 5 years and everything in life to me is art. I love being surrounded by beauty, culture, and the love of good people. So far my life has been pretty straight forward with school and work, but I know that kind of banality is not for me. Right after I graduated last June I took advantage of my freedom from being tied down to school and work and I decided to become an Au Pair in Paris. I met my English boyfriend there and now we live in England while he finishes up Uni and I do... whatever I want. I'm really hoping to find more of a direction soon, a career path or a masters degree program would be nice. In the mean time I'm taking each day as it comes and having a wonderful while I do it.

Overall, I'm just happy, energetic and excited about living and loving life. Hopefully while I'm in Europe I'll get to hop around all over the place and see many cities, I'd really love to see Prague, Vienna, Stockholm, Budapest, and a bunch I can't remember right now. I just can't wait to meet new people and experience something different. The world is bigger than me and the more I see the more I know I have to see more.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far all of my participation has been on the surfing end. I have surfed through Germany and Portugal and met some excellent people and had amazing experiences. Since I am not settled at the moment I don't have a couch to offer, but as soon as I have a more permanent place I can't wait to start hosting people.

Music, Movies, and Books

music is incredibly important to me. I love old Jazz (Django Reinhardt, Billie Holiday, Stéphane Grappelli), Brazilian samba and bossa nova (Gilberto Gil, Tribalistas, Antônio Carlos Jobim), Nouvelle Scene Francais (Emilie Loizeau, Camille, Renan Luce, Carla Bruni), and a lot of other things (Andrew Bird, Broken Social Scene, Feist, Eels, Stars, Sufjan Stevens, Devotchka, Sea Wolf, Regina Spektor, Alaska in Winter, Beirut, Ben Lee, Jesca Hoop, Animal Collective, Iron and Wine, etc. etc. etc.) I really like the twangy, blue grass thing that's been going on for the last couple of years.

I love reading, I read constantly. Right now I'm trying to get through Cloud Atlas. Before that was David Copperfield.

Movies... I could have a long, spirited conversation about movies. Me and movies currently do not get along and are going our separate ways.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once I went to a salsa concert in a park with some friends even though I don't dance salsa very well. While I was sitting out one of the songs and watching everyone dance, wondering how they get their feet and legs and hips to move with such coordination, the band leader called me up on stage, and before I knew it I was dancing salsa and singing in Spanish on stage in front of a large group of people. It was crazy.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to learn how to juggle 4, and I might be able to teach you how to juggle 3. I can help you make an excellent and very loud grass whistle, possibly helpful if you're lost in the woods. I could always use some help with my French and German. I would like somebody someday to teach me how to play the musical saw.
