CURRENT MISSION
Just making shure life is worth living
ABOUT ME
I love to travel. Always have, always will. There's so much you can learn though contact with other people, other cultures, when you're out of your comfort zone. You can always teach something too, and who knows, maybe make this world a little bit better.
PHILOSOPHY
Sometimes I'm tempted to believe that human beings are all a bunch of selfish creatures who care nothing for others. If you need proof of that, just turn on the news channel. But thankfully, I can overcome that temptation by remembering all the good people I know, all the good things in the world, all the ones that try to make this home we have a little better. Utopias are, by definition, impossible to achieve. But hey, just because you can't win doesn't mean you shouldn't try to.
(Reading everything I've written so far, I hope I don't sound too preachy, or naive, or both... I guess sometimes my hands type corny things without me even realizing...)
Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm fairly new to this, but for the moment, I can offer someone to play tour guide and be a friendly face in Buenos Aires, or even help with the spanish homework, for all of you taking classes. When I have my own place, I'll definitely host people there!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've traveled Europe twice, and always stayed at someone's place. People I met somewhere else, friends of people... many people opened their homes to me when I needed it. I did the same whenever I could. I've been given a lot of hospitality, and I'm always willing to do the same for others, if I can. Even though it wasn't through CouchSurfing.com, it's the same basic principle...
Intereses
Too many things to list here...
Just to mention a couple of things, I guess I could say I'm interested in people. Not as an abstraction, but as, well, people. Like you or me. I like to meet new people, talk, learn, teach, enjoy... that's the best part of traveling, the people you meet. Without them, the Eiffel Tower would be just a big piece of iron, the Colosseum an old stadium, and the cities in general just dead stones... but there's people there, there's life there. So, I guess that's one of my interests.
Politics is another, although I'm not involved in politics per se (is that how your write that, I wonder?), I just like to know and be aware of what's going on. It may help me to vote better, know who to support, know what to say, and maybe make a difference. I like history, for similar reasons (and because I'm a bit nerdy, I guess).
Life in general, having fun, listening to music (and playing it), reading... the list goes on...

Música, películas y libros
I like lots of kinds of music, and try to be open to what's different and new. Most of the times, I can't do it, though, and I still prefer 60's rock (the Beatles, of course, are number 1) and a lot of jazz, soul and funk. But I do try, and lately have been very successful in opening my mind (and ears). Music is, as Frank Zappa said "the BEST" (yup, with capital letters). There are moments, when I'm listening to the right tune in the right time, when it seems that all infinity is crammed in one instant. That's as close as I can get to describing the feeling. Pure musical orgasm.
As for reading, I enjoy many Argentine writers, such as Borges and Cortazar, and I like the novelists from the US, such as Hemmingway and Fitzgerald, and I love the beat writers, with Mr. Kerouac at the top.
Algo increíble que he hecho
... Dancing in a forest in southern France... Spending Christmas in Spain and New Year's Eve in Italy (with my first close encounter with snow).(And speaking of snow, I saw how it snowed in Buenos Aires for the first time in 90 years)... Traveling across a continent to go see a girl... Writing at the Vesubio in San Francisco... Cooking "empanadas" (a typical Argentine pastry) for the first time in my life in Germany... Experiencing Roger Waters play the Dark Side of the Moon live and with 5.1 sound... and the list goes on with many unmentioned things, among them the countless simple moments that make life happy and real...
Enseña, aprende, comparte
I'm not sure if I can teach something. I do have some musical knowledge and I can speak and probably teach a couple of languages. I can teach some spanish or some english. Maybe a bit about history and literature, but I think I've got more to learn than to teach. Still, if my knowledge can be of service to anyone, just let me know.
