About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Adventure.
ABOUT ME
I graduated from Reed College in 2008 with a BA in Classics, thinking I would work an administrative job for a while before going back to school to become a teacher. Then the economy fell all apart, my professors couldn't find work, and I became a bike mechanic. Basically I get paid to do what I do for fun, which isn't so bad. After working in Portland, OR for a couple of years, my girlfriend Emmeline and I moved to Brooklyn. I currently work at NYC Velo as a mechanic and design and build bikes of my own in what spare time I have left. Eventually I would like to have my own shop where I build and repair bikes of my own.
PHILOSOPHY
Sort of a mix of Tom Waits, Iggy Pop, and Epicurus.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have hosted some folks in Portland, and have been hosted in Italy and San Francisco. My apartment right now is too tiny for real hosting potential, but if you are a bike-y person who wants to shoot the shit about bikes, New York, or Portland, drop me a line!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have had a couple of couchsurfing experiences so far, and they have all been good. I look forward to more pleasant adventures in the near future.
Interests
Cycling, building bicycles, photography, new sorts of music, old sorts of music, craftmanship.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Blues. Jazz. Classic rock. Modern rock. Folk music and re-creations of folk music. Classical music. Some rap. Some country, even.
Books: Vonnegut, Orwell
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once bathed in a Roman bath, which was pretty sweet. Earlier this year, I rode a 135 mile on road/off road bicycle race in Eastern Oregon which was pretty incredible as well.
Teach, Learn, Share
I like to talk about and ride and work on bicycles. I also like tinkering and fixing things/working with my hands in general, so if you are interested in teaching me new skills or learning skills from me, I would be delighted. Trading recipes is also good. Chats about philosophy are also fun.
Countries I’ve Visited
