To see as much of this world as I can and to meet as many people who can relate to my desire to travel and develop cross - border relationships.

ABOUT ME

I ( Gareth ) am married to Debs. We have no children so we spend our hard earned income on cheap flights, wine, and the occasional exotic adventure. We are very sociable and would welcome visits from those surfers who we have either stayed with or developed a "virtual" relationship with via the glorious 'net. We are both slaves to the 9 to 5 work ethic but of course this is not by choice...
Just a few words about the area that we live in.. Preston is an ideal base to use to explore North West England. Within one hour's drive you are able to reach the fantastic city of Manchester and the European Capital Of Culture for 2008, Liverpool. Also we have the beautiful scenic Lake District and Yorkshire Dales almost on our doorstep. 2012 sees Preston celebrate our Guild - this only happens every 20 years so a lot of events are happening in and around Preston. Blackpool is the largest holiday resort in Europe and it is a 15 minute drive away from our home.

PHILOSOPHY

If only we had a knowledge of exactly how lucky we are. Just to be alive. Just to be Human with the ability to walk, talk and feel emotion. This is maybe tooo deep. I may amend at a later date!

We have had some wonderful times staying with fellow 'surfers & a great time hosting.. Why oh why was Couchsurfing not around 20 years ago!?

The first time I travelled by train on my own. Seeing the light in children's eyes when you present them with gifts. Hearing Eva Cassidy's "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" for the first time. All my mother's amazing meals. Sunset at the top of Table Mountain. Floating in the Dead Sea. Reading great poetry. Listening to Radio Luxembourg under the covers of my bed the night Elvis died. Watching the first colour TV transmissions at my aunties house as she had a colour television before we did!
