À propos de moi

CURRENT MISSION

Be creative, make friendships, laugh easily, practice kindness, world peace through world travel.

ABOUT ME

Hi! We're Amy and Josh - a fun, friendly, open minded, travel-loving couple both born and raised in Portland, Oregon, and lived in Melbourne Australia from 2007-2012. We loved Melbourne! We're now back in Portland after our long haitus down under and still just getting our bearings. We're interested in getting together other travelers and chatting about lands far far away...

No couch at the moment, sorry.

A bit more about us, being from Portland, we have instilled in us a love of nature and a natural instinct to protect it. We love gardening, enjoy a mainly vegetarian diet (although we are not too strict about it) we are passionate about sustainability and ecologically friendly living. We're interested in meeting other like-minded, creative, fun travelers, hosting couch surfers (when we can), connecting and making friendships with people all around the world.

Amy is a full-time ceramic artist, she has a real thing for people's faces, she loves studying them, whether it's drawing or sculpting she just cant study people enough. She's also having fun learning to play the ukulele and guitar, which is a bit of a late start for someone who has no other musical background, but better late than never I say! Amy really enjoys any kind of creative thing and loves learning new skills in this field. She is more introverted and reserved than Josh is, especially first getting to new people, but she warms to nice people over a chat and a drink :)

Josh is a full-time computer programmer and a part-time photographer. The man loves his cameras! He has a digital SLR camera, he also shoots polaroid pack film, and likes to tinker around with his Holga camera. He also plays on two ultimate frisbee teams. Josh has a beard but don't let that scare you! He's a warm out-going guy who loves giving hugs, laughing and chatting with people.

We tend a few websites that you're welcome to check out (and friend us on).

PHILOSOPHY

Live life openenly. Tread lightly on this earth. Make art not war! In the end you get as much as you give. If you can write, you can draw; if you can talk you can sing; if you can walk, you can dance!

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We've hosted a fair few people when we can, and have surfed ourselves a couple of times. We're looking forward to having more experiences as we plan future travels.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The most rewarding experiences so far have been the relationships we've made hosting CSers; offering our home up to travelers and just reveling in how wonderful people can be!

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

I don't think it's that important what kind of books or movies people prefer. But if you are a fan of Kurt Vonnegut's books, Kimya Dawson's music, or Terry Gillium's and Jean-Pierre Jeunet's films then I guess we will be able to start a conversation :)

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

We spent four months backpacking around SE Asia, we started in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and then Thailand and we spent about a month at each new place. It was such a wonderful experience such a rich and beautiful part of the world and also filled with such lovely welcoming people.

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

We really like finding clever ways to conserve water. It's always a good idea to pass these practices on and help change the way we use resources. We can show you how to collect shower water to flush your toilet, collect everyday (otherwise wasted) tap water and put to use for things like watering the garden. If you've got clever ways of everyday household conservation, pass it on; we're eager to learn!

Amy could teach you how to make a really excellent rice pudding (no really, it's excellent). She could teach you a very simple crochet stitch, and if you've got time, help you crochet a warm beanie style hat, or she could show you a few simple chords on the ukulele.

Josh could teach you how to play ultimate frisbee, and show you the basics of polaroid/emulsion transfers. He knows a little uke, too.
