About Me

ABOUT ME

I guess I am a "cervello in fuga", as they say in Italian. That is, a researcher who abandoned Italy because of despair about Italian universities.
I have just come back to Italy, my home country, after six years in the UK. Unfortunately, this is most probably just a short parenthesis - of 1 year, 2 if I am really lucky - before going back to rainy England (for which, though, I have also developed a lot of affection). But you never know, and anyway I am determined to enjoy every minute of it.

Also, even if this is a return to Italy, Floreence is totally new to me, so all in all I feel in the middle of a (re?)discovery.

I enjoy dancing, cooking, travelling, activism of different kinds, hiking, spending time with friends. I think I have a good sense of humour.

PHILOSOPHY

I guess you need to be warned that I am left-wing, and quite strongly so.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Just through hosting and being hosted, so far, I'm afraid.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I can only say great, but boring and predictable, things about Couchsurfing. It simply delivers what it promises: much deeper and more personal insights on the places you are traveling in, and the chance to meet good people.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm afraid I'm not a music expert, with the exception of the Italian songwriter Fabrizio de Andre'.
I am going through a Balkan phase at the moment, and listening to a lot of Goran Bregovic - and Pada Kisa, by Alen Islamovic!
Books - some random choices: The Tin Drum, The Day of the Owl, Anna Karenina. I am a big fan of Ryszard Kapuściński, although I have to confess I'm not a very good fan in general - in fact, I only found out that he (kind of) recently died (sniff) because I googled his name to check the right spelling to write his name here...
