One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of the most amazing experiences of humanity I have ever witnessed was in Nairobi, Kenya. We stayed with a Kenyan friend who lived in the outskirts of the largest slum in the city. They had a small room that was their entire home, concrete walls decorated with fabric scraps, a tin/cardboard roof, and 4 people lived here. I have never experienced such hospitality. They insisted we take the bed (they slept on the floor, and wouldn't budge despite our protest), cooked us meals that I knew were out of their price range, and showed us around the city the next day. We still talk to this family weekly, as they are probably the kindest folks I've ever met. They even named their 5th family member Whitney, after the American that stayed with them :)
