About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I can Host! Come to Santa Cruz and let me show you the way we groove

ABOUT ME

Well, I travel to surf and learn languages and meet fantastic people. So far, Traveling always holds up his end of the bargain. I'm slowly finishing up my BA at University in Santa Cruz, CA, where the ocean is cold and beautiful and the Redwood trees make the air smell green and alive. In a word, its gorgeous. I went to Spain for a 3 months in fall of 2005, where I learned passable Spanish and surfed along the Basque coast. Other than Spain, I've traveled briefly to Portugal, France, Germany, Mexico, Costa Rica, Fiji, and Bermuda. I'm short and silly and love to tease people and goof around. I LOVE dancing. Alot of the jobs I've had since I was a teenager involve working with kids, and kids always delight me. I'm not very enthusiastic about television, video games, or anything else that involves being inside and on your butt when you could be outside surfing, hiking or adventuring. I am a practicing massage therapist and I practice yoga and pilates when the surf is flat. Friends are some of the greatest gifts in my life.

PHILOSOPHY

Laugh as much as you breathe and love as long as you live. Also, get barreled as much as humanly possible.

Music, Movies, and Books

So much music! Lots of latin-beats, SambaDa is a band from Santa Cruz, CA and Bahia, Brasil, and they are one of my favorites. Also B-side Players, Bob Marley, salsa, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, tons of Reggae ... ay its too much to list. I read so much, as a literature major, and reading/writing are both major pastimes for me. I authors I love are Isabel Allende, Barbara Kingslover, Toni Morrison, Hemmingway, Hunter S Thompson, Steinbeck, Clavell, Frank McCourt....it goes on and on.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to the WCT Surf Contest in Mundaka, Spain in Fall 2005, and all the way over there, on the other side of the globe, while meeting surfers from all around the world, I watched my hometown hero Bobby Martinez win the event. It was surreal, to see this guy who grew up surfing the same breaks two minutes from my house in California win an event that I happened to be at in Spain. It really brought home to me how small the communities we move in really are, and how close-knit the world can become.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you massage Therapy! and give you basic tips on how to keep your back healthy, I can teach you to surf and I can teach you how to order a drink in Basque country so that the bartender thinks you're pretty smooth. I want to learn more samba and salsa and I want to go surfing with you! I want to read and share writing and talk about literature. I have my EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) training and I can share what I know about life-saving skills and how to react in an emergency.
