About Me

CURRENT MISSION

trying to understand the world through my own eyes

ABOUT ME

***update: I've just graduated on february 2014, and I haven't seen my mom since 2011. To see her in quite spectacular fashion, I will be traveling over land from Europe to my home country Indonesia, tracing the ancient silk route for around 4 months. I will start my journey from March 11th. Hoping to meet lovely people and have an exciting experience!

I quit my job, spent all of my savings to set a new life in Europe as a student.

I have engineering background but love history more than anything else.

My sisters consider me as talkative person. Probably they were right.

I spent years to learn illustrator and photoshop. Definitely more than calculus.

I can play and make some music, especially with guitar. not so bad, not so good. Some say I have a good voice, don't think so.

I'd rather to have a chat in coffee shop or listening to a mini concert than clubbing.. Love rock and roll, no R&B for me.

I love storytelling! Regardless of whether through films, poetry, books, photos, dance. Whatever it is, good storytelling is a good story to share.

Love this quote:
"For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel's sake. The great affair is to move; to feel the needs and hitches of our life more nearly; to come down off this feather-bed of civilization, and find the globe granite underfoot and strewn with cutting flints.."

PHILOSOPHY

I don't know anything.. therefore I am.

The best form of gratefulness is to give and share with others.

Life isn't fair. But it's still good. (anonym)

Your hand opens and closes, opens and closes. If it were always a fist or always stretched open, you would be paralysed. Your deepest presence is in every small contracting and expanding, the two as beautifully balanced and coordinated as birds' wings. (Rumi)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

A friend told me about this website on 2008. It has been a revelation to the human race.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I meet some new friends from couchsurfing and now we're always keep in touch, even travelling together. it's great to have new friends who have same vision in their life, passionate about travelling and have new experience together.

Interests

ART!, history books, football, good storytelling, chilling out until the sun sets, new friends, photography. oh, and cats.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music : any kind of music (no R&B please), lately enjoying folks, soul and jazz. Big fan of Sting and Queen, and local traditional musicians that doesn't need a grammy nor broadcasted in MTV.

Movies: The last emperor, Into the wild, the Motorcycle Diaries, Once, Kramer vs Kramer, band of brothers, Empire of the Sun, Gandhi, etc.. too many great movies out there! Love martial art films too!

Books: I've read too many books so I couldn't really tell my favourites. But the most memorable would be this: Pramoedya Ananta Toer; Banker to the poor - Muhammad Yunus; A new green history of the world - Clive Pointing;

Currently reading The Road to Oxiana - Robert Byron

My study has taken over my life so I couldn't spent time too much on books. As a replacement I watch documentaries.. a lot. Most of them are from BBC. Love their compelling way of storytelling.
