About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travelling the world, discovering new places and people and working out what I really want to do and where I want to do it

ABOUT ME

Hmm, grew up in Australia and England. Just finished studying with a semester in Chile. I love to travel, go to places that I find totally different and get to know them a bit better. In that sense I´m generally interested in learning about the politics, history and culture of the countries I visit. I also love music and books and am always ready to go out and have a good time.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've only just joined couchsurfing. However, I've crashed on my fair share of couches, beds, hammocks etc in my travels. My favourite experiences were those where I met random people in unexpected situations, different to those I would be likely to meet at home, who introduced me to new perspectives.

Music, Movies, and Books

I´ve recently been reading: Coetzee; Peter Carey; Conrad; Roberto Bolaño; Paul Auster; Borges, Cortazar, Peter Robb - A death in Brazil (fascinating book about history of Brazil and contemporary politics), Inga Clendinnen - equally engaging book about the first encounters between the

Music, Jazz, Hiphop, bluesy rock, most genres really: even found myself guiltily enjoying Reggaeton lately (too much exposure in South America).

Cinema - Cohen Brothers, The Valley of Ellah, Science of Sleep...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I travelled across Indonesian Borneo over 6 weeks by boat, bus, motorbike, and 14 days of trekking through the jungle. We stayed on the floors of the local villagers. Ate lizard and snake and drunk home made palm wine. Lay in our shelters in the jungle, singing our guides popular songs, and listening to their folk songs.
