About Me
ABOUT ME
I travel as much as I can, but right now I'm mostly in Sweden, trying to finish my bachelor in linguistics and getting a driver's license. The references about me are probably more accurate but I'll try to put some words down. I'm relaxed, humble and most people would say pretty reserved, or quiet. However I love to be around most people. I love music more than most things in this world, and often let my life be guided by sounds. The past years of my "grown up" life, I've spent quite a lot of it traveling. I like to move around and look for adventures. I was born lost and have no intention in being found. I love all kinds of food, but I don't eat meat. Last big journey took me and my girlfriend to the Yukon and Alaska for some paddling and hiking during two months.
PHILOSOPHY
Trying to be positive, even in hard situations, not having big expectations. Always stand up and fight for your human rights. Try to travel as much as possible, meet new and different people, because that is what makes your mind open and keeps the xenophobia away.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Mostly by surfing other people's couches, and some occasional hosting back in Gothenburg, Sweden. I should like to host more in the future, it's time to give back!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have been surfing since 2008, and it has brought me to so many truly great people and places all around the world. I've also been on quite a lot of CS meetings and parties. Awesome experiences! One time in St John's, on Newfoundland I couchsurfed in a log cabin and ended up staying there for 3 months in my own room. I've made many actual friends through CS, with whom I still keep in touch after years.
Interests
Travel, meet new people. Listening to and practice different forms of music. Spoken and written words, poetry and litterature. Learning new languages, practice the ones I already know. Music, Movies, and Books
I listen to a lot of diffrent stuff, right now it's a lot of techno, progressive psychadelic rock and hiphop. I'm also quite familiar with Balkan brass music and flamenco. I'd like to learn more about folk music from Asia and Afrika.
Movies, all kinds! I watch movies often. Some directors I've gotten into recently: Ruben Östlund, Jacques Audiard, Jim Jarmusch. One really good documentary I saw this year: Concerning Violence.
Reading is a great interest: I enjoy most kinds of literature, some new/old favorite writers: Roberto Bolaño, Arthur Koestler, Edith Södergran, Naomi Klein, Kurt Vonnegut.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
2011 I was traveling around South America. I was hanging out in La Paz with too travelers I had met, a Canadian and a New Zealander, we decided to climb a peak of the Andes, Huayna Potosi, 6000 meters high. We came up to around 5700 meters before one of my partners started getting altitude sick and we had to go back down. Eventhough we didn't make it to the top it was a great experience, the moon was full, made the snow glitter, a natural lamp for us in the dark, the air was thin and far away you could see the city lights of weird and magic La Paz. I think about this ever so often and I still keep in touch with my companions.
