About Me

Currently traveling with my wife, Kendra.
Trying to explore as much as we can, slowly traveling from Asia to Europe.
We bought a car in Almaty and are attempting to drive to Scandinavia.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

There is no better way to get to know a place then through the eyes, ears, and minds of those that spend their time there. I have been hosted by folks in Bosnia, the Republic of Macedonia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, Russia, Mongolia, Japan, China, Philippines, Taiwan, and Molokai. I have hosted once on the beaches of the Oregon coast, many times at different houses in Portland and once in Vietnam. Sometimes this has led to experiences that I truly cherish.

Interests

I love to jam and have my trumpet with me.
I love any type of game, especially learning mind bending strategy types. I learned Backgammon in Turkey, Go in Bulgaria, and Chinese chess in Vietnam.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: So many, including pyschological weird ones and cheesy fantasy.

Music: Also so much, mostly on the rock variety, psycedelic stuff, also jazz, also music that makes you dance (for me reggae, soul, bluegrass)

Books: I love Russian literature, also fantasy books, again books with interesting pyschology or some kind of poignant feeling. Really love Hesse, Mann, Melville, Hawthorne. Also funny books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One time I traveled east around the world carrying a trumpet, just using planes to cross the oceans.
Another time I spent 40 days traveling the US on freight trains.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can talk at length about music and geology and philosophy and Russian literature and traveling and freight train riding and movies and jokes and poems.

I would love to know how you managed to do that wonderful thing that only you and you alone are capable of. That amazing thing, you know the one I'm talking about, that got you that thing in the other thing that one time?

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you are a musician, I would love to jam!
If you are a geologist or some other type of scientist, I would love to exchange ideas!
