About Me
As of August 28, 2016:
I am really interested in connecting with folks in Canada and Mexico. I love your countries! Also, I like hosting people and being hosted by people from around the world, too, so please request away!
I currently run my own business: https://resilientheritage.org
Here is my legacy profile: https://www.couchsurfing.com/users/794469/profile/legacy
CURRENT MISSION
Making it in the Windy City! - Helping host the 2018 DEMHIST conference in Chicago, a UNESCO conference for house museums (former houses that have become museums).
ABOUT ME
I recently discovered that life's too short to make every part of your life a statement. When I was younger I was super intense to the point of turning off light switches in public places, but that weighs you down.
In a world where global climate change is the new reality we still need to pause and take stock of what is and appreciate the moment. I take aimless walks through neighborhoods and rarely make weekend plans. I shy away from conflict by saying what can be done instead of repeating common obstacles.
I go on train trips, collect postcards, linger in historic downtowns, train stations and movie theaters to know what community once was and how we can bring the best of the past to today's world.
I thoroughly enjoy transportation systems - including reading, taking pictures and experiencing (of) them! I also like playing with prepositions. >)
I like to travel to new places and meet new people. As you can see by the maps below I have had the privilege and opportunity to travel to a number of cool places.
Bikes, cameras and geography thrill me. I feel like these three things embody my passion for travel.
I'm really into seeing how locals live where they live and meeting these locals in the act of being a local!
PHILOSOPHY
Unto whom much is given, much is expected.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite author is Roald Dahl. Like reading non-fiction, especially history of cities and biographies of political leaders. I am all over the place with music. I like almost everything except country and most rap. I enjoy R&B, Soul, Motown, Latin - Shakira taught me Spanish - Stevie Wonder, Wilson Pickett, and a lot of Nina Simone!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I took a train trip cross country from Portland, Oregon to Portland, Maine.
I came out to my parents.
I took a trolley car in San Francisco at 7am in the morning - sans tourists!
I moved to Chicago only knowing three people.
Teach, Learn, Share
I want to be better. It took me a while to figure out that I couldn't do this alone. Advancing as a human being requires the human touch, the human mind and the interaction among and between the two. I'd love to connect up with some like-minded individuals and take that journey together. Where ever one may go, he or she can always make a home, which is why Couchsurfing is so great!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I have very high energy and I always like to share it! I am also interested in sharing my experiences of working in a museum and my love of mid-century, particularly, mosaic art. I'm also a fan of art deco!
