ABOUT ME
We are an artistic, nature-loving, kind-spirited and loving couple. We have three very wonderful sons who are all now in college, all local and home often.
We enjoy all kinds of art, photography, music, good and healthy foods, but most importantly good and fine people.
Alan is passionate about music, especially jazz and plays jazz and acoustic guitar as well as piano. He creates nature photography and designs gardens and landscapes for pleasure.
I am involved with historic preservation and have done hands-on restoration work involving historic structures, both locally and in Italy. I love to paint in watercolor, read, do yoga and Tai Chi, bike along the canal and be out in nature.
PHILOSOPHY
Kindness and sensitivity are two qualities that are appreciated and valued. We beleive in the inherent goodness in all, yet are smart enough to see when that goodness needs some developing and we choose wisely the company we keep.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We've hosted our son's couchsurfing friends and thoroughly enjoyed it. Now we are hooked and look forward to other wonderful experiences.
Interests
Alan & I have both studied and practiced Aikido (a Japanese martial art based on harmony and cooperation)and I used to be an instructor. It's a beautiful martial art that is very deep-reaching and very effective. The best part of the training is working with other people and harmonizing your energy with another's.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Diana traveled to Italy to study fresco painting and participated in a conservation survey where we assessed and documented the condition of paintings dating back to the 1500's along the cloistered walls of an ancient monastery. The people, the work, the land, and the food were absolutely amazing. We made some wonderful new friends who feel like family.
Raised three loving and wonderful sons.
