About Me
CURRENT MISSION
My mission is to make the most of things, spend time with relaxed and interesting people and be inspired
ABOUT ME
I am a social and open-minded person who likes to meet new people and discover more about other cultures, about the possibilities in life and about myself. In 2008 and 2009 I was traveling in South East Asia and Australia where I met many people and that was the best part of it!
PHILOSOPHY
Life is a dream, realise it
Life is a challenge, meet it
Life is a duty, complete it
Na regen komt zonneschijn (after rain, the sun will shine again)
What goes around comes around/ you get what you give
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have been traveling in South-East Asia, meeting people and sharing experiences. When I had a couch in Australia, I showed people around and invited them to stay with me to give back to them what they did for me.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have been invited by locals in Thailand and Vietnam to stay with their families. They were very hospitable and I didn't even know them! The most surprising was the stay with (poor) rice farmers who's son had been a monk who spoke English. He said his parents would be proud if he brought a foreigner to their village. The fact that they didn't have any luxury to offer me didn't dissuade them from receiving me in their home and I appreciated that so much! This cultural exchange was much more important to me than having a proper toilet or a matrass in the vicinity..

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Angkor in Cambodia is the most amazing place I have ever seen. And then the underwater world..
My top 3 includes Angkor, Karijini National Park in Western Australia and Banaue/ Batad's rice terraces in the north of the Philippines.
