ABOUT ME

I come from the dirt, I breathe the air, drink the water, and love, as we all do.(or something like that)

But other than that neo-hippie nonsense- I'm really passionate about music, and am very interested in the inner workings of sound and how sound waves interact with our ears to create emotional and physical responses.

I consider myself a professional musician, and try to play as many instruments as I can get my hands on. If I was to post a list it would sound narcissistic or too self-complimentary, and since that's not my thing, I'll leave it at this: Stringed instruments (mostly ones with frets), percussion, and the combination of the two (piano).

PHILOSOPHY

I love to be spontaneous and live in the moment. If you don't, you'll get caught up in silly things.

Take life as it comes. This makes the hard times harder, and the good times greater.

Going with the flow is a good description of how I live, but not in how I hold some of my views.

I believe in Karma, consider myself a Buddhist, and do not judge others personal religious beliefs as long as they don't try to convert me to their views.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.

Why do I live my life? Because I love to entertain people, make best of shitty situations, see the amazingly complex environment in which we live.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I lived in a Music House that saw many beautiful souls and great musicians pass through our doors.
I host those in need, or those who want to get a 'locals view' of my place of residence.
Soon I may be on the surfing side rather than hosting, which will be a nice change of pace.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Since I last updated my profile, I have had many positive, unique experiences with members of the Couch Surfing community, and hope to continue to be a contributing member to the community.

兴趣

Playing music, meeting people, having the occasional drink/smoke, watching good movies, hiking, backpacking, longboarding, good books, fishing, camping, and making sweet, sweet loving in the friscillating moonlitten dusk.

I like all kinds of music, from old swing jazz to post rock to classical to funk to jam bands.. etc etc.
Miles Davis, Flight of the Conchords, Phish, Grateful Dead, Zeppelin, Floyd, Hendrix, the Allman Brothers, Django Reinhardt, Herbie Hancock, etc.,

I love movies that make you think after you see them; but I'm also a huge fan of comedies, as laughter heals the soul. Dark comedies restore my faith in humanity.

I'm a bit of a nerd when it comes to books, preferring fantasy novels or books about philosophy.

Calvin & Hobbes is my favorite comic of all time, but the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers are a very close second.

-Snowboarding in Colorado in fresh powder in the morning.
-Seeing a building get demolished, which was cool.
-Playing a gig for New Years & St. Patty's Day with an incredible crowd of awesome people.
-Backpacking the Appalachian Trail..
-Australia, Europe (Barcelona FTW)
-Grand Canyon
I've also been to great Music Festivals in the Southeast.

I play many different kinds of instruments, from steel drums to the guitar to the ukulele, I know how to pick up and play most anything.

As far as teaching goes, I can show you a thing or two about playing music, as long as you are willing to learn.

My biggest goal when meeting other musicians from couchsurfing is sharing the knowledge that I have of my instrument, and learning from others.

I'd like to learn as much as I can about different cultures(language, food, music, sports), learn how to build engines, learn about sustainability. I'm just a spongé
