About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To roam the Earth spreading good humor and sating my thirst for cultural connection.
ABOUT ME
I am a true lover of life. I relish new experiences the way I relish a great cup of coffee or an especially good sunset. I love to learn anything new, whether it be how to say, "How do I get to the beer garden?", how to sail a boat, or ride a motorcycle. I am passionate about travel and aviation and also my family and friends. I care about others needs more than my own and ultimately fear missed opportunities to fill my life with a palette of experiences. Death doesn't scare me nearly as much as not living.
PHILOSOPHY
My personal philosophy is simply the tried and true "live life to the fullest and don't waste a minute". I hate the feeling of missing opportunity and feel guilty when I indulge in moments of mindless staring or napping. My family and friends are extremely important to me and I love them all unconditionally. I also believe that giving is far more satisfying than getting.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm a newbie to CS but feel that a contributing 'surfer should do just that: contribute. I will be humble, interested, adventurous, and share my newfound knowledge and tales of my experiences with others so they might gain insight or inspiration from my travels.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have no "formal" Couchsurfing experiences to relate except those of crashing on friend's couches in other states and the odd foreign land. I've always longed, however, for the type of experiences Couchsurfing offers -- the ability to spend a night or three with a real local, someone who is as much a part of the local fabric as the sights I'm there to see. I want the opportunity and the privilege of hanging my own ideas and experiences at the door and becoming a temporary part of someone else's reality.
Interests
I'm passionate about two things: travel and aviation. I love to fly and to see new places. I also am addicted to movies (I love being told a story), and I read for pleasure when I'm not studying books on flying. I also have a burgeoning interest in gold prospecting and treasure hunting though, to date, I've not found either. I've recently begun to dabble in screenwriting and have completed a first feature-length screenplay with my writing partner which got an Honorable Mention at the 2010 Los Angeles Film Festival. I love the outdoors and the ocean and learning new things even if I never put the knowledge to any practical use. (Is that bad?)

Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite movies are the ones with a good adventure in them or ones where the main character passes a test of some sort whether it be a test of will, ingenuity, or courage. I love good comedies too. As for books and music, my interests and tastes are all over the map!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In 2008, a friend and I journeyed to South Africa for the sole purpose of seeing Great White sharks in the wild. Loving sharks from as long ago as I can remember, this was a dream come true for me! To see the "shark of sharks" up close and personal was as thrilling as it gets!
Teach, Learn, Share
I am a really good amateur photographer.
I know a lot of fairly useless things related to flying: aerodynamics, navigation, meteorology, and aircraft construction. Well, at least I find it interesting...
I write better than most people I know.
I've gotten to know the Big Island of Hawaii and it's assorted nooks and crannies pretty well.
I've always wanted to learn to sail though!
