About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Try on some new lenses.
ABOUT ME
I feel that I have grown up in a liberal, California bubble. It's a nice bubble, comforting and idealistic. But the soap obscures the view, and I'm a visual learner, so I've taken up my pencil and paper and gone out to pop the bubble. I am discovering this country city-to-city and drawing/writing my way across the United States. I want to broaden my view. Tomorrow the world!
PHILOSOPHY
I am living One Day at a Time.
I believe that the models for relationships that cinemas bring us up to are dysfunctional and unhealthy. I am seeking to reorient myself emotionally to let go of the need for emotional ownership, thus resulting in a broad web of loving relationships (platonic and otherwise) where I stop putting my emotions on other people or looking to be fixed.
I also believe that all people are creative, that the generative impulse is universal, and that all ingenuity is honorable. I think people would be happier if they realized how truly creative and capable we all are. Self-actualization is at hand.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am attempting to build strings of contact across the continent, finding other artists and creating with them, dispersing the seeds of their creation in new cities and minds. I love meeting new people of all sorts, and finding points of commonality.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've talked to and met other couch surfers in California, and recently got the chance to stay with an amazing host in New Orleans. He has significantly aided my decision to move there.

Music, Movies, and Books
I've given up on television, movies, etc. for the time being.
As for music, I am very open minded and love learning about new artists and delving into why people make music, how they make it, what it's about, etc. I'm particularly fond of rock and folk, but my heart also holds dear jazz, the blues, country, hip hop, bluegrass, and classical genres.
Books, ah books. I love to read. My literary candy is in the sci-fi/fantasy/graphic novel realm, such as Orson Scott Card, Neil Gaiman, Patrica McKillip, Ray Bradbury, and Connie Willis. However, Leslie Feinberg is amazing, and memoirs tend to pull me in.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
After backpacking to the middle of Yosemite, I climbed Mt. Voglesang (spelling?) on a clear summer day and saw the entire park and all it's landmarks in one panoramic view. Then I left a note of reconcilliation to my deceased grandfather in the box at the top.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am gender queer. I am very open to discussion, explanation, questions, etc.
I want to learn about new cities and new points of view.
