About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Enjoy life! Share love and compassion with everyone, and make this world a better place for all!

ABOUT ME

My name is Philip Oje, I'm 23 years old, and I am in the midst of a grand adventure around the world. I started traveling on March 1st and so far I've been to Amsterdam, Berlin, Prague, Munich, and I'm back in Amsterdam for a few more days before I head south for a warmer climate.

I enjoy playing and having fun. The purpose of life is to be happy, love, care for, and enjoy yourself and everyone else on this planet.

Waking up to the reality of things allows for a more global outlook on life. At the same time, change begins from within. I intend to modify my circle of influence to have a positive effect on all that I interact with. By tearing down the self-imposed walls of the ego, real life flourishes. Breaking out of fear-based habits allows you to live life on your terms, not those put forth by other people or institutions.

That's enough philosophy for now :) More about me:

Oh Amsterdam, muse of my soul! I've been in this lovely city for over a month now and I've learned a lot about myself and what I truely enjoy doing. One of my favorite activities is going to the park on a nice sunny day and stretching, really feeling my body. After I'm all limber, I like to smoke a joint then break out the hackysack and give myself a nice workout. To wind down the day I'll read a book or write/draw in my journal. Ahh, a well spent afternoon! :)
To end the day and begin the evening on a magnificent note there is nothing I enjoy more than watching the sun set. Sitting still, basking in the last few moments of the sun's warmth, for me, is freedom. Watching as the sky changes color. The pastel shades complementing each other naturally as the sun gets lower and lower and disappears on the horizon. Breathtaking.

Often I find myself mesmerized, entranced by the sheer beauty of nature. Be it in the sky, in a forest, or walking down the street, being present and watching life unfold around me is truely a wonderful experience. And you can learn a lot just by observing objectively. Leaving judgements behind and accepting things for what they are is liberating.

I've had some experiences which aligned me with nature in such a way that my perspective of life is one of harmony. If humans across the globe act in harmony with nature, and overcome the obstacles presented by human nature, this world will acheive nothing less than utopia. A world of peace and love and compassion. And it all starts from within...

PHILOSOPHY

This is a quote from a great man who was many years ahead of his time. It sums up my philosophy quite well.

"The world is like a ride at an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it, you think that it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills, and it's very brightly coloured, and it's very loud and it's fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time, and they begin to question - is this real, or is this just a ride? And other people have remembered, and they come back to us. They say 'Hey! Don't worry, don't be afraid, ever, because, this is just a ride.' And we...kill those people. Ha ha ha. 'Shut him up! We have a lot invested in this ride. SHUT HIM UP! Look at my furrows of worry. Look at my big bank account and family. This just has to be real.' It's just a ride. But we always kill those good guys who try and tell us that, you ever notice that? And let the demons run amok. But it doesn't matter because: it's just a ride. And we can change it anytime we want. It's only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings, and money. A choice, right now, between fear and love. The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your doors, buy guns, close yourselves off. The eyes of love, instead, see all of us as one. Here's what you can do to change the world, right now, to a better ride. Take all that money that we spend on weapons and defense each year, and instead spend it feeding, clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could explore space, together, both inner and outer, for ever, in peace."
-Bill Hicks

Bill Hicks is one of my heroes and this is one example of his stand up routines that helped shape my beliefs.

In mid August, I had an experience which opened me up to a life of wonder and happiness. I was sitting in a park in Amsterdam asking myself some tough questions about life, existence, God and creation. The answers came to me in such a way that only I could have understood them. And the overall realization was this. Enjoy your life. Do not worry about things beyond your control or reasoning like how the universe was made, or what happens when you die. Troubling yourself over these matters is fruitless because there is no way to know for sure! When it's time to learn about creation, the creator will speak to you. Love yourself, love one another, take care of each other and this planet and your experience can be nothing but positive. In a nutshell, You get what you give. That's the way of the universe. Oh yes, and enlightenment is real.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I sat down and talked with God on a park bench and knowledge of the universe flowed into my being as I became one with nature.

Teach, Learn, Share

Don't worry about money. You are not the contents of your wallet. Don't worry about possessions. You are not your fucking kakhis. What you own, ends up owning you.

This life is short. Don't spend it wrapped up in meaningless crap. Live life! Be passionate about everything you do.

Enjoy your life! If you look for happiness without, you will stay without. If you look for happiness within, you will be eternally fulfilled.
