ABOUT ME
Well hello there,
I'm an extremely uptight, narrow minded guy that hates traveling and meeting new people, especially travelers. I kid, but who wants to be the millionth member of the lame "open minded traveler" profile club. Apparently a lot of people. Again, I kid. Alright, so here's the real deal. I believe in seasonal living, staying in Canada during winter is for chumps. My goal in life is to have a self sufficient homestead and become a wizened old crank, who has also dived all over the world and harassed countless fish. I'm a positive person that is still very honest and realistic, especially with myself. If you can't be honest with yourself who are you going to be honest with? My main priority in my finite time on this earth is to be as relaxed as possible during said time so as to enjoy it to the utmost. I love learning about pretty much anything, especially peoples life stories and dreams. I must warn you, I love horrible puns like they won't be here tomorrow. Fair warning. I love to laugh, I wish I could get paid to joke around with my buddies over a few beers on the disc golf course. I'm probably the least hip person you will ever come across, just so you know. Image means nothing, it's all about how you treat people(or at least I wish it were really that way). Nothing makes me happier than large tracts of unscheduled time. The bigger the better.
PHILOSOPHY
Live a simple life, causing no harm to myself or others, trying to help others on the way remembering that kindness is giving without being asked while at other times it is shutting your mouth and minding your own business. I realize it gets a little rough at the end there but who hasn't been in a situation where you really didn't appreciate that bit of "help" or "advice" someone was giving you.
Happiness is something you have to work at, it won't just happen, it takes dedication to a positive mindset and disposition.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I surf couches and love to host people. I spread the word to people I meet that will join this wonderful community and add to it.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I was blessed to stay with some amazing hosts on my last bike trip and have truly enjoyed hosting travelers in my abode.
Interests
Currently bicycle touring and scuba diving are my main interests. Also, sustainable living and reducing the amount of time I spend working and retiring as soon as possible. I've got hobbies to master. I love gardening and can't wait to do it on my own property. I would like to also have an arboretum on said property. Oh yes, how can I forget disc golf! If there is a course near you we should definitely go play a round of the grand old game. I'm also a pretty large scale proponent of hammocks and associated lifestyle.

Music, Movies, and Books
Half Baked is the highest achievement of cinema to date. (I don't even smoke any more but I still love this movie)
I love slap stick and comedy, I love to laugh.
Music: Grateful Dead, Phish, String Cheese, New Monsoon, Umphrey's McGee, Railroad Earth, Moe, Garaj Mahal, Yonder Mountain Stringband, tamara Nile (good Canadian girl!)the Sadies, Jean Luc Ponty, Fu Manchu, Kyuss, Nebula, Orange Goblin, Cowboy Junkies, Clutch, Arch Enemy, Megadeth, Soilwork, In Flames
As for books i loves my fantasy. give me a sword, a few elves and maybe the odd druid and I will show you a happy nerd. I also love books that would fall under the the category of rigodamndiculously funny. The master is Terry Pratchet. Some of my other favourite authors include Tom Holt, Neil Gaiman, Tim Dorsey, Karl Hiassen, Tom Robbins, Rob Grant, one of Matt Ruff's books (sewer, gas and electric, hilarious) and for puns you can't beat a Punday night at Callahan's thanks to Spider Robinson.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was camping with my best friend Jon up valley in the gorgeous BC woods and a big storm moved up the valley and socked us in. It was pouring rain and there was a lot of thunder and lightning going on as we were putting up the tarp. All of a sudden there was a lightning strike really close by and an incredibly loud and powerful thunderclap that my friend and I could feel through every fiber of our being. the air was electric, I had never felt anything like it. We looked at each other in one of those "holy shit" moments. I think we may have even been holding each other, I can't quite remember. It was one of those moments when you are reminded of how powerful mother nature is and how small and insignificant you are. The blessings of growing up on the edge of forests and mountains forever!
Teach, Learn, Share
Hmmm, I would probably be better at teaching a person how not to do things as this is often what I end up doing. Ah, I could teach a person the finer points of hammocking and the hammock lifestyle. I would really like to learn how to start a fire without matches or anything. I have never played a musical instrument so that is something I would like to learn. I want to share positive energy, compassion and support to my fellow humans so that we can all work on being happier.
