À propos de moi
CURRENT MISSION
have an life that can't be easily summed up in a small box on a website;)
ABOUT ME
as befitting a naive young person;), I pretty much base my life around having fun while avoiding all forms of responsibility. study at the moment is getting in the way of everything else (namely, producing electronic/dance music), so I'm taking a year out from the doctor factory to travel, explore, learn and generally mess about, hopefully smiling most of the time I guess!
for whatever evolutionarily-malfunctioning reason I tend to find dangerous situations the most fun, and I try to bring things upon myself that it'd probably be best to avoid. this mostly means jumping mountain bikes over large voids, falling off shit on snowboards, falling onto shit off skateboards (with sometimes painful, but hilarious results), and generally doing things which don't make much sense at all. I don't think I can really explain this sort of behaviour. sorry.
other stuff: I'd describe myself as a budding environmentalist and (extremely) amateur philosopher, but I don't really like being defined by any one thing. at the moment I'm finding myself more and more open to new experiences just to learn more about the world (note: this doesn't include hard drugs haha. or soft ones for that matter. do 'soft' drugs even exist?? maybe they're like a 'second world country'.) one phrase I read recently is 'student of the world'. that fits me pretty well I guess..except for the self-professed learning allergy described above.
I think the most relevant thing about me is, I like flight of the conchords.
PHILOSOPHY
-enjoy your life, because the one thing you don't want to do is get to the end and have regrets!
-if you believe in conspiracy theories, surely your view of the world is that it's so f*cked that it's not worth living any more?? I personally will never believe in any ridiculous "9/11 was an inside job" type stories, because I don't actually think the world's full of evil--there's only a few people in power who perpetrate it, which can sometimes give the illusion that we're all screwed. but we've nothing to worry about really, humans are nothing if not great at adaptation--just look at how we're adapting the earth right now to fit our need of being warmer:P
in the words of the streets: stay positive!
..you may be naively idealistic, but at least you'll have something to live for!
Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've just joined, but looking forward to meeting new people through couchsurfing--I think that's one of, if not the, most important aspect of travel--really getting a feel for what life's like in another part of the world, rather than just what the country looks like. ancient ruins are obviously fascinating too, but they don't tell you much about the people who walk past them on their way to work each day..
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
just joined up, so none yet
Centres d'intérêt
-exploring the world, and basically just being outside..
-pointlessly extreme sports. or normal sports, made pointlessly extreme.. eg bike soccer, snowboarding on grass, tennis in squash courts with 5 people, flaming hacky sacks, and playing table tennis with logs for bats.
-playing records while holding headphones to ear and flicking switches. some call it djing, I call it the reason thousands of dollars have disappeared from my bank account. then again, those oil-based vinyl records are technically a carbon sink.. djing: the new environmentalism?
-dancing wildly to heavy dance music, especially drum'n'bass, house, breaks and dubstep, but really anything at all, as long as it's not trance. don't get me started on that, I might throw up:p
-making said dance music, and after a few years realising that it's turned into full-fledged audio geekery!
-the future of the world
-making art, especially spraypaint stencils
-chocolate milk..the drink of the gods. well, second drink of the gods, after ambrosia, but who's counting?

Morceaux de musique, films et livres
haven't really seen many movies..however, among my favourites were 'the little mermaid', 'into the wild' and 'life is beautiful'. I'm not kidding about the little mermaid, that shit was deep. no, I jest. I do appreciate the value of an actual thought provoking movie, but semi prefer a book for that purpose.. which is maybe why I'm a huge fan of shit movies--the worse, the better! eg cobra vs python (an absolute must see, the worst ten million dollars ever spent!)
books.. read a few, but it's been a while since I've read any worthwhile ones, been satisfied with others' and my own thoughts for the last few years I guess. just started 'long walk to freedom' (mandela bio)
music..see above. anything at all if it's got emotion. and also, that drum'n'bass shit where people say boh! a lot.
Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue
-a particular sunrise while driving to my work one morning in winter..there was a band of cloud just on the horizon, and the sun slipped around it so gently and delicately across the harbour to warm the hills, flaming orange and misty pink.. that I almost crashed my car off the road down the huge hill and into the harbour in a flaming wreck. just thought I'd add that lest the image become too cliched.
-seeing my baby cousin walk for the first time
-hitting a golf ball into the grand canyon. ok, so it wasn't really amazing per se, but it was pretty hilarious. no, don't get on my back about littering, it was one golf ball, if you think it's going to make a difference or that ANY human will ever set eyes upon it, you've clearly never been there;)haha.
-shattering my arm skating and feeling like it was up in the air when it was on the ground. hmm..not really "amazing", more just fascinating and gruesome! this isn't going so well any more is it??
-living in new zealand. I think that takes the cake.
Enseignez, apprenez, partagez
if you've ever wanted to get into making music on a computer, I can get you a programme (free, thanks to the wonders of piracy) and teach you how to make your own songs. it's pretty easy, and pretty satisfying once you make something you're proud of, for sure.
I can also teach you how to do tricks on your bike, so when you time travel back to the 1980s you can roll up to the schoolyard on your bmx with the tricked out white plastic wheels, and do nose wheelies for days. now that's real power.
