About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Getting Married on July 18th! Pretty busy for the time being, so look for a couch sometime later this year!

ABOUT ME

Let's see, I love plants, animals, and people. I'm a city girl who loves nature. I like to dance, walk around and see things, play with animals and make animal sounds, plant things, grow things, cook things, and eat things. I graduated from college in 2006, and love being in the field of Landscape Architecture. Love hiking through Bidwell Park in Chico, and obscure scenic areas like Cinder Cone in Lassen Nat'l Park and The Lost Coast are among my favorites, although you just can't beat standing on top of Half Dome. It gets better every time. I am a Burning Man regular, having gone 8 times since 1998. I love being covered in Playa Dust. But I'm taking this year off to road trip. My snake Katula is 14+ years old, and is friendly to children and adults alike. I have been published three times now, once in a poetry book, once as a Honorable Mention for my Fiction 59 short, "The Sprinkler Messiah" and most recently on burningman.com 'Tales from the Playa' for "The Cyclopath." Those are my mentionables. I am currently working on Saving the World by saying, "Good Morning" to every stranger I pass. Made a good move when I hooked up with J-Rad for certain exclusive rights. He's an amazing human. And we're now engaged. Whee!

PHILOSOPHY

Wow. Literally, look around you and take it all in. Walking down the street can be a transformative experience. People should pursue what makes them happy, and let others do the same. But let's be responsible about it, okay? Sustainable Hedonism - I'm for it. So I guess that makes me an operative for happiness.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I will gladly host and tour folks of all sorts. We have good times ahead to share. Showing you around tends to open my eyes to what I've been missing, though I try not to miss anything.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Did a bit of couch surfing in my 20s (non-couchsurfing site related) in Chico, Ca, where people do it just for fun. Hosted many a band during that era of my life as well - touring bands need a place to stay! And if I throw a party, you are always welcome to crash on my couch without notice.

Interests

Sustainable Hedonism, saving the world through landscape architecture, riding bicycles really fast, Burning Man and associated rituals, 5 foot deep moss beds, waterfalls next to 5 foot deep moss beds, Things That Sparkle or Change Color When You Are Least Expecting It, walking barefoot, anything soft and fuzzy, left-wing radicals (oh right, AMERICA now qualifies as Radical again!), Saturn's moon Titan, roller coasters, miniature golf, people that push me beyond my boundaries, dressing up, houseplants that can't be killed, out-of-body wasabi experiences, robots, people that hate their Tee-Vee, tattoos, running up stairs every other step, alternative energy, people that radiate beauty, things that go "Boing!", the sounds my stomach makes, Birthdays and Birthday Squirrels, slinkies, people that have their shit together, people that want their shit together, topiaries, unicycles, pogo sticks, gourmet food, trick kites, jellyfish, and international travelers. I like other stuff too.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've made it to the top of Half Dome in Yosemite National Park twice, and the second time, discovered a cave up there, in the "diving board." My friends and I took turns inching our bodies out on an overhang that allowed us to look straight down 4,700 feet to the valley floor. My, my. It took about 90 seconds before the vertigo kicked in. What a ride.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a student of Landscape Architecture, and love to explore the relationship of people to space. It's incredibly dynamic. So I can share what I've learned about that during tours of where ever we happen to be. And I'm good with plants. I'll give you some tips on how not to kill them.

I want to learn what you know.
