About Me

ABOUT ME

I grew up in the north-east of Belgium, in nice and natural surroundings. I've spent my time at university in Ghent (2005-2011). During this time I made two trips to DRCongo in line of my studies. After this I started development studies, but instead of an internship abroud I ended up doing a really nice job in Belgium and continued working in Tanzania (Pemba island) afterwards. After a break in Belgium, I left for Senegal where I have been working as a voluntary associate for a Belgian NGO. In May 2014 I returned to Senegal to work for a local NGO (bio agriculture) and a local business in solar home systems. In augustus, my husband and I left on (late) honeymoon travels around the country.

I job opening got me to travel back to Belgium where I am now. Working for a "youth house" to develop a program to coach young entrepreneurs.

In between I've had amazing times with our youthmovement JNM, experienced WWOOFing, explored parts of Europe, discovered and learned about myself by bits and pieces... I like to relax and enjoy life as it comes, I like to develop small projects to keep myself busy, I like to hang out or just take my bike and take off .. somewhere. Anywhere.

I like music and the sounds of nature.
I like silence and peace.
I like to think about sustainability and experiment with new ways of living my life.
I like parties and friends.
I like cooking (and eating).
I like to think and discuss about international issues, like 'development' cooperation.
I like nature! and my youthmovement (JNM).
I like to pet my cat's belly.
I like to live a slow and relatively basic life.
I like experiences and seeing new parts of this humble earth.
I love laughter, I adore the sun...

I loooooove to see things grow!

There is so much to like, a new likeble thing pops up every single day...

PHILOSOPHY

If you live in harmony with nature, nature will not harm you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE

We have an open house, you are welcome anytime. We are renovating at the moment, so your stay might be a bit adventurous... but there is plenty of space available in between bricks and dust (and I'll even clean it up for you when you come).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've met some amazing people with CS, during my summertrip of 2011 (in Sovenia and Italy). Had a surfer come over in my home town village aswell (Belgium).
Had life-changing experiences with my CS friends on Pemba Island (2012)

also enjoyed the company of the surfers that pass by in Thiès (2013 - 2015).

Interests

My interests are very broad: mostly nature and environment, Africa, photography, travelling, cooking, discussions and documentaries, the 'alternative' films, free gigs and Belgian Beers... but I try to be open to new ideas and experiences

so tomorrow I might like technomusic or the Pope, who knows...

Music, Movies, and Books

David Attenborough! Yes Sir!

'The centenarian who climbed out the window and vanished', by Jonas Jonasson

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Life.

All of it.

Teach, Learn, Share

An apple a day keeps the doctor away! A chocolate a day is also okay!

To try and to fail, is not laziness.

Do bad and remember, do good and forget.

All truth is good, but not all truth is good to say.

It is easier to prepare the young then to repare the old.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm an open and enthousiastic type of person. The things I experienced, the things I've learned and the things I have... I will share to those who are interested.
