About Me

I have quite strong discovery instinct. I enjoy working in lab on my PhD project (how do insects talk to each other using chemical compounds - pheromones) but I also enjoy earning knowledge which is hidden on the bottom of every glass of beer. I'm sometimes a bit disorganized as I'm keeping myself busy with as many activities as possible and I'm not very good at relaxing. People say I walk too fast.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I host CSers I can learn something new about my home, my city and my nation through their perspective. And while I'm traveling I´m not just a tourist thanks to a local CS friend. It is amazing that a single simple idea can make more exciting both my homestaying and my travelling.

Interests

Science (molecules, bugs...I really like them)

learning through travelling - in general I prefer nature to cities...especially mountains: I feel that a trip without a nice summit is somehow...flat:)

drawing and painting (and also watching nice pictures)

sports: squash, running, floor hockey....and currently (2014/15) I started to climb more intensively which I planned for a long time (both routes and boulders) and I'm getting addicted to it:). As for winter sports I like cross country skiing and also hope to cross some mountainrange on snowshoes this winter

Music, Movies, and Books

books by: Stanislav Lem (great Polish scifi writer, sometimes funny sometimes impuls to think a lot)
Ray Bradbury (magic realism, sci-fi a bit)
Gabriel Garcia Marquez (One Hundred Years of Solitude)
Gunter Grass
Tolkien (I think that Hobit is the best story about travelling and especially about learning through travelling & experiencing...this is the way how I imagine my journeys:)

Music: ...from Soulfly and System of a Down through Apocalyptica and Clawfinger to Pearl Jam, Placebo, P.J.Harvey, Bjork, The White stripes, Goran Bregovic, Chemical Brothers, Prodigy, Radiohead, Massive attack, Roni Size and also Czech music (Xavier Baumaxa, Kryl, Raduza, Psi vojaci, Wohnout, Moimir Papalescu & The Nihilists)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sleeping at the top of a dune in Morocco desert. Hitchhiking through Turkey. Diving near Elba island (Italy). Jumping into waves of Atlantic ocean in England during rain. Identifying a new gene in a bumblebee:)
