ABOUT ME

I am your typical southern Californian who loves life and who generally isn't in a huge hurry. I love cruising down PCH with the windows down and listening to country music while enjoying the smell of bonfires. I am very easy going and can get along with anyone. I have been to Europe almost every summer since high school, so i love to exchange information with other travelers just in case I need a place to stay sometime or they do when they come to California. I am a pretty competitive basketball and volleyball player. I love to body surf.

PHILOSOPHY

Hakuna Matata. While there are many things that you can control, there are even more that you cannot. Getting all bent out of shape will not change the outcome; therefore, I try to enjoy every situation and see the silver lining.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My roommate and I hosted two girls that were originally from Finland but were living in Zurich at the time.

I've couchsurfed in Istanbul and Bali, both great experiences. Without my hosts, I know for a fact that I would not have had such positive experiences in both countries.

When I was back in the USA for 2 years, I neglected my couchsurfing duties a bit, and now, I'm hoping to rectify them.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far, I've only hosted people once. I've tried to couchsurf several times, but one of the times I missed my flight to Norway and the other time, my roommate and I chose not to go to Athens in Dec. 2008 because of a US travel advisory and an air traffic controller strike.

Interests

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a huge country music fan. I will listen to pretty much any type of music where there is genuine musical talent involved. I'm not a big fan of rap or this new electronic stuff, but there are songs that I like from both genres.

As far as books go, I used to against reading for the longest time. Throughout high school, we always had to do a report after we finished reading a book; ergo, I never liked to read because of the dreaded the report that followed. Over the past 2 years, I've really started to enjoy reading. Malcolm Gladwell's Outliers is one of the best books I have ever read. I enjoy nonfiction adventure books. I also like stories that are full of danger and have a good story to go along with it.

I thoroughly enjoy documentaries, sports movies, and movies based on true events.
