About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Find meaning in my life, while helping others to do the same.
ABOUT ME
I'd love to be able to peg myself into one category, but, truth be told, I'm all over the place. I grew up with a hippie dad, who loved The Beatles, Hendrix, and weed. Of course, I didn't realize that last one until much later in life. I was a quiet child, VERY isolated, and very awkward. Only until I came to know and live with my brother here in Utah did my life and identity begin to take shape. I can now proudly call myself a dedicated musician(go figure, dad!), possibly working towards my music major in school. Also, ladies: I'm totally in a band.
PHILOSOPHY
I've never bothered to classify my philosophy in a particular school, but if I had to, it would be......awesomology. Seriously. I believe strongly in humor, because it helps with everything. No sense being stony-faced all that much, it's boring.
Overall, I'm a guy who's guilty of all those stupid little things people do that makes their lives less fun. The difference is that I KNOW I'm doing it, and that I want to change. Life is change, and you should always be striving for something better, or at least something new.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am firmly rooted here in SLC for the time being, and since Summer 2008 I have been hosting as many people as possible with my brother Zack. From our conveniently located apartment downtown, we've tried to learn as much as we can about other parts of the country(and the world!), while also showing our Surfers around and dispelling the rumors about Utah and especially Salt Lake City. Basically, racking up some good karma for when I make my own trek around the world!
Interests
I LOVE to play music. Period. It's man's greatest tool/invention/pastime, and something everyone can enjoy. Also, I'm an avid cyclist, and a muscle car aficionado. They don't really go together that well, but I own both! I consider myself an apprentice conversationalist, and would be happy to discuss myriad subjects with just about anyone. I really like hearing other people's stories. Then there's reading, video games, weight lifting, dining, drinking, and sledding. Enough for ya?

Music, Movies, and Books
Music should have it's own little section. Here we go: Beatles, Hendrix, Zeppelin, Floyd, Dead, Heads, and ACDC for starters. Then there are the REAL classics: Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Debussy, and Haydn. Then there are the punks: Clash, Bad Religion, NOFX, Gorilla Biscuits, Rancid, Operation Ivy, Green Day, and Offspring. Then there are the slightly newer: Cake, Queens of the Stone Age, Reel Big Fish, Streetlight Manifesto, Sublime, Weezer, Common Rider, Catch 22, Foo Fighters, Less Than Jake, Modest Mouse, Radiohead, The Strokes, and Wolfmother. And, of course, The Aquabats. If you haven't been to one of their shows, do yourself a favor and go: you'll laugh your ass off.
Movies I've caught up on since Netflix was invented, so I love Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Chasing Amy, Clerks, Ghostbusters, Young Frankenstein, Billy Madison, Vertigo, and anything on Mystery Science Theater 3000.
Books are a little more scarce, I read mostly textbooks and random learning materials. However, I do enjoy Phillip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" trilogy, as well as any philosophy source material I can get a hold of. I don't like to pick favorites on philosophy, because I think it's important to keep an open mind about it.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The view from atop the John Hancock building in Chicago. I was only 17, and it was by far the most incredible view I've ever experienced. Also, I hate heights, and it was my first time atop a skyscraper; FYI, they move around a lot up there. Scary.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can show people many different things about music, especially introducing new artists and guitar technique. I can cook, clean, and work on cars, as well as showing people how to properly toss a pizza dough. The rest is local knowledge.
I'm always interested in expanding my skill base, so if you know how to do anything I don't, teach me!
