About Me

CURRENT MISSION

A good traveller has no fixed plans and is not intent on arriving" (Lao Tzu)

ABOUT ME

Actually I am a literature and culture scientist but I see my occupation more as a try to understand our world better. From that point of view I am pretty much on the beginning of my mission.
Currently I live in Berlin and dance tango, a lot.

My speciality are places.
I love to think about the differences of places and about the vibes of cities, of nature and landscape. I do believe in a special connection between human being and location. The reason why I love to travel and to get in touch with people is exactly because of that: I am interested in the relationship to their locality. How do they influence their environment, their neighbourhood, their social net and what do they get from the place where they are? What kind of relationship do they have to their hometown and to their place of residence? How do they express their desire to be a part of the world?
I am on the way to find out if the individuality of cultures can be defined by the particular relationship between a certain place and the people who live in it.

This following quote could describe the task of exploring new places:
"Man kann ein Land nicht einfach durch geographische Wissenschaft kennenlernen. Sie ist ein zu genaues und zu hartes Werkzeug. Die Welt kennt 1000 zarte Teile, in die man sich versenken muss um sie zu verstehen, bevor man wissen kann, was sie zusammengenommen darstellen." Jean Giono

PHILOSOPHY

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Through updating my profile, writing messages to other couchsurfers, hosting them and at least, of course: surfing couches.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

CS is a very good possibility to get in touch with native people! And to get in touch with native people is an obligation for a good traveller - I think.

I offer my couch because I am searching for like-minded people, for inspiring discussions and sophisticated worldviews. I would love to talk about our philosophy of life and also to get asked about it. If my couchsurfers are just interested in finding an accommodation I would really find it a pity.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I grew up in a bilingual family.
I had the opportunity to call Tel Aviv my home for one year.
I met Imre Kertész in person.
I live in a country with high level of living and peace since 70 years.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you baking the best cakes and gateaus. I also like baking different type of breads.
Currently I go crazy for gardening on my balcony. I have sunflowers, gladioluses, marigolds, morning glory, tomatoes, marguerites, roses, beans, lillies and snapdragons. I am sure they are all speaking to me. ;-)
If I have time, I love sewing.
