关于我
CURRENT MISSION
A New Tilty for a New World. Eh? Well, Tilty is the ruins of a monastery/abbey in England. Still confused? Think self-sufficiency; farming; art; being good people; good food; ecological thinking; animal friendly; crafts; olde world architecture.
ABOUT ME
Scott: Live by my hands, simple things that are so important like knowing how to propogate a grape vine. Have to have the vine if you want the wine. There's something to be said about making your own table and chairs! Working and living with nature not always just what we can take from it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We haven't had the chance to leave here and go couchsurfing ourselves, as the farm animals take all of our time - we are hoping this might change and we can travel soon!
We also host many "wwoofers" (farm volunteers), so generally have a busy house in the summer. We apologise, because there's a lot going on and we often miss CS requests, so please bug us a couple of times if we haven't replied; we likely have simply not seen your email!

我做过的一件不可思议的事情
Gemma: Descended into the bowels of the earth at Sterkfontein, South Africa, to see Littlefoot, in situ, curled in a protective foetal position, still encased in her breccia block. Amazing and made me cry.
教,学,和分享
Gemma: What is the essence of humanity? Gemma teaches palaeolithic archaeology and human evolution...from the point of view of a philosopher of science. Why does this view of the way things are have to clash with a religious view? Why can't it be that science is purely a description of how we see that the world works, while religion is what we feel in our hearts? Maybe god created people to evolve. Maybe it was part of the grand scheme for us to 'ascend' from apes (which are god's creatures as much as we are). Why should we fight about such things? It's not like religious teachers know everything; and it's not like science proves everything. It's kind of arrogant to assume that there are no mysteries left in the universe.
