About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Trying to find myself

ABOUT ME

I wanted to be a pirate and find hidden treasures in the Caribbean Island.
I wanted to be an actress and win an Oscar (for leading role).
I wanted to be a filmmaker and also win an Oscar for best script, direction and movie. But then I discovered low budget and independent productions and, of course, Brazilian cinema and it`s rare opportunities.
I wanted to be a writer like Jane Austen.
I wanted to be a Jane Austen`s character.
I wanted to be a street artist. I wanted to be a clown. I wanted to run away with the circus.
I wanted to be an archeologist and live great adventures in Indiana Jones` style.
I wanted to be a paleontologist and be almost eaten by a dinosaur in Jurassic Park.
I wanted to travel in a time machine.
I wanted to be a princess and, then, a peasant.
I wanted to fly by myself. And have other superpowers.
I wanted to be a double agent.
I wanted to be a revolutionary, fight for human rights and live in exile.
I wanted to save the world and help people. I still want.
I wanted to make a difference. I still want.
I wanted to fight for human rights. I still want
I wanted to be a photographer and be kidnapped by Farc and live to show my pictures. I still want. But not with the kidnap fantasy.
I wanted to be a journalist, write incredible stories like Lois Lane and be saved from dangerous situations by Superman. I wanted Superman.
Bad choice!
Lois Lane is nothing compared with me. And Superman… mister Goody-Goody… no!
I still don’t know what to do.

PHILOSOPHY

An amazing motive to travel: a bad experience will always turn into a funny joke to tell your friends!
:p

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hello! How are you?
First of all, I’m sorry if I can’t receive you in my home. I live with my parents and, yes, I know it may sound strange and even absurd to you, but it’s very common in Brazil. Especially for those who want to save some money… I’m joking. Although it’s a fact.
As it may be to my parents, the CS experience sounded a little “too sociable” to me. Particularly to suspicious people as Brazilians. Another funny characteristic we are known for. Being in some “stranger’s” house or opening our homes to unknown people is unusual over here.
But the more I was hearing and getting to know about CS project, the more interested I was. Everybody had a great comment to make. When you have a reference you are more open to something. But, in this case, I want to try myself.
You may have noticed that I talk (or write) too much. I’m a journalist. But don’t give up on me just because of that (:p). But one thing I’m not used to is to open my life to unknown people.
However, since I’m trying to fit in CS idea, I’m gonna try it now.
I’m living a period when I wanna (re)think my life. I´m giving a break from my job and the only thing I wanna do now is travel.
Travelling is a need I have.
Travelling is the way I find to know me better, to see things in a more clear way and, of course, to experiment different things, like Couch Surfing. And it’s always good to get away from the daily routine and live intensively, since everyday is a surprise.
That’s what I’m looking for right now.
CS sounded as a way to achieve some of these objectives.
That’s why I’m getting on board.
I don’t know how long I’m gonna use it or if it’s gonna work. But I wanna try.
I need a challenge right now!

Music, Movies, and Books

I’m a huge fan of movies and culture in general. I studied acting for two years, although I don’t believe I’m good at it. I took singing, circus and dancing classes as well. And, again, I’m terrible in those activities. I’m also a photographer in my free time. Although I don’t have much experience. (And I have a low esteem. You can notice that and be sure I´m trying to change!)
Taking pictures is one thing that makes me forget about time, problems, and that gives me a good sensation. I love it and I would love to be a professional photographer.

But, ever since I was a child, I love cinema. And to name one particular movie as the best, for me, is a crime. There are too many amazing examples from a lot of different works in movies. Blá, blá, blá. Ok, Ok... I will name some:
I really appreciate the work of Chaplin, especially in Modern Times.
Rare Window, from Alfred Hitchcock.
Blade Runner, from Ridley Scott.
Sense and Sensibility, Ang Lee.
Chicago, Rob Marshall.

Brazilian Documentaries. Janela da Alma, from João Jardim and Walter Carvalho, is one of my favorites. But there are two names that I need to mention: Eduardo Coutinho and Wladimir Carvalho.

Short cuts, animations…

I don’t wanna sound a “cult” person… I adore going to the movies and have a great time… cinema is also entertainment (but I’m really critic in reference to Hollywood). I grew up watching Back to the Future and Indiana Jones and I just love them! And it’s easier to be more open to laugh than to face something strong or uncomfortable. One example that has these two ingredients and that I love: Monty Phyton and the Holy Grail!

Ok, books! I love José Saramago´s work. I don’t know the name in English, but, Intermitências da Morte is my favorite. Everything from Brazilian master Machado de Assis and the British Oscar Wilde. I love acid and ironic writers. I also enjoy reading plays.

But I don’t read that much! I prefer quality over quantity.

Music… well, I’m a beatlemaniac! But I enjoy a lot of styles too. I’m not an expert in music, but I like to know a little about everything.
Recently, Manu Chao is mandatory.
