About Me

ABOUT ME

I tried to write this bit first, but as I filled out the pages, everything I'd written here seemed to become redundant as I re-wrote it elsewhere. So I erased everything I'd written, and instead wrote out this long explanation. But then I thought, well, what if whoever is reading this feels cheated somehow? maybe they like to skim the About Me write-up, get a general feel for a person. I think that's a stupid plan actually. But, in case you are that person, I will attempt to compensate, and find some filler for this section.
Here goes:
My name is Hayley Fulton, and roughly translated it means Muddy Hay-Field. Pretty fantastic. When I was born, I weighed 7 pounds 11 ounces, and the time was five minutes after midnight. As a kid, I did really well in school, and stuck my tongue to a frozen flagpole not once, but twice in the first grade. Growing up, I loved theatre, but after leaving school, my interests turned to politics. After much campaigning, I was elected Chancellor of Germany in 1933, and remilitarized the Rhineland in 1936, cheekily defying the Treaty of Versailles. By 1938, I had sucked up Austria and the Sudetenland, and oversaw the successful invasion of Poland in 1939, sparking the Second World War. I battled with the Allied forces until 1945, when, in the face of utter defeat, I committed suicide with my mistress on April 30th.
Ok, so thats Hitler, not me. (Thank randomly-selected-deity) It made good filler though.
If you're still here after all that, you may as well just read the whole profile.

PHILOSOPHY

Better get it done today, tomorrow you could get trampled and eaten by a shark riding an elephant.

But really...most days it's a rich, dark roasted blend of an Oscar-Wilde-like love of beauty for beauty's sake, and the ever-demented life lessons of Hunter S. Thompson, the perfect mad genius. Here's to you, Gents.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Surfed in Belgium, Spain, and Portugal so far, and it's been great! Oh, and one emergency night in Toulouse, stranded by windstorms, hahaha :P Couchsurfers to the rescue!

Finally back on the road again, working my way north through eastern Europe, up toward Germany and Poland. Couchsurfed Vienna, and loved those guys so much I stayed for nearly an extra week, including the second stop in :P

Interests

The shorter chapter would probably be "What I'm Not Interested In"
But a condensed overview would go:
Theatre, Live Music, Interesting Art, Singing in the streets, Dancing on subways, Dancing in general, Meeting People, New and exciting states of consciousness, Traveling, Quietly hashing out a fresh epiphany over Green Tea, Breathing, Watching movies, Feeding birds, Checking things off the to-do list, Watching the sun come up, Sleeping in unorthodox places at unorthodox times, Reading good books, Taking pictures, Being as awesome as I can manage without my head exploding.

Music, Movies, and Books

---> Labyrinth (both Pan's and the Bowie musical), Trainspotting, Everything is Illuminated, Hard Core Logo, Sid and Nancy, The Big Lebowski, Waking Ned Devine, Once, Moulin Rouge, Spinal Tap, Fight Club, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Sweeney Todd, Kind Hearts and Coronets, American History X, The Darjeeling Ltd., Into the Wild, Dazed and Confused, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. (to name a very few. I watch an obscene amount of films)
--->MusicMusicMusic. It really doesn't matter what kind. I listen to a bit of everything. More acurately, a lot of everything.
---> If I can read it, I will. Right now I'm reading Gonzo, Thompson's biography. Reading a chapter is like getting high and blowing things up vicariously. A bizarre out-of-body experience.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I stood on the top of Machu Picchu and blew bubbles. The sky was split between this impending thunderstorm and bright sunlight. There was a rainbow that shot straight down over the mountainside, and the bubbles became hundreds of tiny spherical prisms reflecting the light over the tops of the Cloud Forrest.
Epic? I think so.

Better still, since I wrote the first section there...
Fell in love. Not metaphorically, just the old fashioned way, with a person. Gotta say, it tops any cloud forrest.

Teach, Learn, Share

I was once called a "trivia sponge". True story. I decided to take it positively, there are certainly worse sorts of sponges. So, I can spout off random facts at your convenience. Also, I can teach you to cross only one eye. I can show you how to read Tarot, though I don't have much practice myself. And if you've never played Chubby Bunny, prepare to learn.

I'd like to learn the proper steps to making Absinthe taste less like liquid plague, with the flaming sugar ball and lovely little spoon. I'd also like to learn leather braiding. And if you cook something that involves it being en flambe, I will gladly learn to cook it.

I will share everything. Excluding things like used mouthguards, and kisses from rabid dogs. And yet, I know in my heart that even those things could be debated if a person had an excellent argument, and it was very late.
And anyone who wants to share a good book would be most appreciated :)
