About Me

Hi! I'm Rose. I've been a member of Couchsurfing since 2008 and have always loved the community. I haven't been incredibly active over the last few years as I have been taking care of family. However, my fiance (Clark) and I are now at a place in our lives where we can travel long term and eventually host once again.

ABOUT US

We have been a couple since June 2016. We love new experiences, live music, and travel.

Rose
I have a BA in Global Studies and Nonprofit Management. I'm passionate about serving my community, wherever that may be. I have worked in the nonprofit sector for quite sometime, but now freelance and bartend to allow us to be more location independent. I have traveled to 13 countries and look forward to traveling to many more.

Clark
Clark grew up on a horse farm in a small NC town. He is a part-time actor, writer, part-time performance arts gopher, drink slinger, and full-time goofball. Clark has been to 48 US states and 5 countries, but really caught travel fever (no cowbell required) after a trip to Slovenia and Croatia via Rome.

PHILOSOPHY

To witness the universal language we all speak, if only we take the time to look for it, is such a beautifully powerful and addictive thing. Fly me in the sky, tell me where to go, and what will I find...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I initially signed up for Couchsurfing after it was recommended to me by a fellow traveler. I have both hosted and have been hosted by people within the CS community. As mentioned above, it has been a while since I have really been active, however Clark and I are looking forward to getting back to it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfing allows for creating special connections between strangers. I have always had a great experience staying with hosts, especially when I have had the opportunity to get to know them.

Hosting provided me with the chance to share my beautiful city with travelers and meet people from all over the world when I have not been able to travel.

Music, Movies, and Books

Rose: Clark and I are music junkies. We love to see local live music both when we are at home and when we travel. I'm really into Soul, Blues, 90s Grunge Rock, Indie Dance, Singer/Songwriter, the list could go on. I really dig biographies, memoirs, and travel stories. My latest favorite book is Mighty Be Our Powers, Leymah Gbowee's memoir. Clark:
I'm all over the place with music. I love 90s grunge, hip hop, soul, and vintage country. My favorite film is "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance." A classic John Wayne western that bears my favorite movie quote. " When the legend becomes fact, print the legend."
I'm very thankful for parents that read to me and instilled a love for reading at a very early age. My favorite book is "Thank You Jackie Robinson." A classic tale of baseball and unwavering love in the midst of vast turmoil. I read it when I was no more than 10 and it continues to resonate.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Rose: When you're traveling you end up having so many amazing experiences that you never planned for, so picking one is very difficult. However, my first international trip was to Peru to volunteer with a small, local nonprofit organization. I spent my time teaching kids who lived and worked on the streets. It was one of the most pivotal moments in my life. I knew in that moment that I need to dedicate more of my time to helping others and traveling. Clark:
I've been extremely fortunate in my life to experience many incredible things. I hesitate to say it's something I've done because I realize it's taken a village to allow me to pursue endeavors that I love. Winning a writing contest in 2017 which allowed Rose and I to witness Pearl Jam (my favorite all time band) inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ranks high on my list of unforgettable experiences. Beyond thankful for those memories and getting to share them with Rose.

Teach, Learn, Share

Rose: I love to cook and I also love to eat so sharing food is always one of my favorite things to do. I really enjoy giving tours around my city. Clark: I've discovered that I really love to try and learn new languages as we travel. Being able to communicate to locals and discovering slang and nuances is so fun. So many have been incredibly gracious to help me and suffer through my many questions.
