About Me

--all infos below are outdated but I'm too lazy to update--

ABOUT ME

I'm a 29 years old guy who has been living in Paris since 7 years. I'm currently working in a marketing company as a Statistician/Data Analyst. I grew up near Nantes, and for my studies I spent 2 years in Angers and 3 in Rennes.

To describe myself in a few words, I would say that I'm quite an easy going person, who likes to take life from its bright and funny side.

And of course I am openminded, easygoing, I like travels and meet new people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Even if Paris is known as the city which has got the most couches available, I noticed in my circle that CS is still not very famous, so I am trying to encourage people to experiment this new way of traveling. And I have to say that I'm quite proud of having transmitted this virus to some of my friends who have got their CS account now :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I discovered CS in October 08 through Internet when I was planning a one month stay in Poland.

My first CS experience was in Brussels with my girlfriend. I think I will always remember my first feeling: how was it possible for a guy who never met us before to trust us as much as he did? It was really great, we met his parents, friends, brothers and they've all been very nice to us. After this first CS experience, I knew that I was going to try it again soon.

My second experience was in Warsaw and was quite particular because it was kind of an "emergency situation": I was supposed to rent a flat in there but just a few hours before it was not available any more...then I found Marta on "last minute CS" and she offered me her couch. At the end of the day, I spent only 1 night at her place but she became my friend very quickly during my stay in Warsaw...
This experience in Warsaw has been very rewarding because I didn't know anyone there, but I met lots of people that offered me their assistance on CS.org. I felt then very safe in this big city, and I realised that CS also meant a huge community ready to help people they don't even know!

After these two experiences where I was definitely seduced about the CS concept, I had 3 other experiences, in Krakow, Berlin and Bari (Italy). All of them were very nice, and I got the chance to meet other great people.

Interests

As said before I like music and comics...I also really enjoy graphic design and photography (you can check out my flickr!).

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: I don't read books on a very regular basis, but I'm a true comic lover. I really enjoy those written by Trondheim, Sfar, Frederik Peeters, Christophe Blain...But I don't know if their comics have been translated from French.

Movies: I like movies but I don't think that I have any original tastes...I enjoy movies like "eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind", "collateral", "the darjeeling limited".

Music: I'm a big music listener, but once again it's quite hard to describe the "kind" of music that I like! But most of the songs I am listening to have got the common point to be very quiet and sweet...I like electro, folk, a bit of rock, minimal techno...Here are some bands that I really enjoy:
the cinematic orchestra, bonobo, rubin steiner, tunng, a silver mount zion, gossip, superpitcher, naive new beaters, gui boratto, dj shadow, cat power, bon iver, clap your hands say yeah, electralane, fleet foxes, herman dune, koop (a big thanks to my favorite CS host for thi discovery!), mansfield tya...and many others

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- watching dolphins dancing a few meters from me while I was sailing.
- flying above Grand Canyon in a copter.
- seeing a lake full of wild crocodiles close to a village in Mali
- watching huge storms in a lost beach of Thailand
- organizing a international worms tournament in my school (ok I have to admit that we had only 3 participant counting myself...at least we tried)

Teach, Learn, Share

I think that the most important skill that I'm able to share is my knowledge on the video game worms. I think that after months of intensive training on worms Armageddon (don't even try to talk with me about the recent 3D worms) I almost have a professional level.
I have developed different training sessions:
-ninja lessons: learn how to use the ninja rope and become as fast as a flash, as silencer as the wind
-shotgun: become a true sniper and the lord of accuracy.

...

more seriously I have to say that I don't know what useful things I would be able to share...except maybe if someone is interested by learning SAS programming in order to make some logistic regression or Multiple Correspondence Analysis ;)
