About Me

Aloha! My name is Jules. I specialize in ocean conservation and provide guidance/consultation to private industry on how to meet environmental compliance standards.

One of my greatest joys in life is traveling abroad to meet new/old friends, converse about SCIENCE/camping hacks/zombie apocalypse/mountaineering, immerse myself in a foreign culture (indigenous & modern society), try different foods/beverages, museums, nightlife, and exploration of unknown/local natural phenomenons and extreme sports.

My free time is spent indoor climbing/bouldering, surfing, hiking, jogging, snorkeling, swimming, scuba diving, kayaking, pickle-balling, relaxing on the beach, doom scrolling on social media, listening to podcasts/audiobooks/music, bing-watching movies/tv shows.

For Couchsurfers interested in coming to Hawaii, feel free to reach out for recommendations. My partner and I are happy to offer suggestions on low to high exertion activities, good eats/drinks, beaches to visit, waterfall hiking trails, local etiquette, etc.

Specific to hikes/quiet beaches, recommend using earbuds if listening to music so as not to disturb the dwindling local wildlife and other hikers looking to escape city noise. And of course, utilize the universal rule of “leave-no-trace” anywhere you go. :)

Cheers,
Jules

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I used Couchsurfing initially to look for a place to stay when visiting grad schools in Maryland. Turns out staying with another Couchsurfer was one of the best travel experiences i've ever had! I continue to use Couchsurfing for travel, meet people, and pass on the "pay-it-forward" mentality.
