About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To befriend as many randoms as possible and sleep on at least one couch in Iceland. Oh, and to leap from a great height (preferably with a parachute attached)

ABOUT ME

I'm a lively Northern Irish lady who loves socialising and adopting strays (of the people variety although I have nothing against dogs). As you can probably guess, I like to think I'm witty (clearly I'm not) so I appreciate people who are accommodating in this respect! I've been lucky enough to host a few people in Newcastle and had an amzing time in 2007 trying out sofa's (of various qualities) in the guise of a round the world trip. Highly recommended

PHILOSOPHY

Shut your eyes and jump!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My participation has suffered lately as I'm currently staying with a friend and there is no room in the inn, with little prospect of this changing in the near future. Which doesn't bode well for my persuasion skills!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted four to date (a couple of lovely Canadian lads and a smashing American couple) though my couch is no surfing virgin! Friends have slept there! They continue to and she hasnt collapsed yet! What a marvel of modern science. I've also been lucky enough to have been hosted in every continent I've visited by some fantastic individuals, and I am seriously considering becoming a travel bum with few prospects other than scavenging food from bins as a means of seeing them again!

Interests

Music (as many festivals, underground club nights and gigs as possible), art (though I'm more of a passive participant at the moment), getting over my fear of heights (i.e. bungee jumps, abseils, skydives, canyon swings), engaging political discussions, befriending randoms, talking silly nonsense and then writing about it, theatre, bizarre dreams, literature, Russian history, and anything else thats a little bit unusual.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm slightly...no, make that totally... obsessed with music (though cant play a note!) and whilst I like an eclectic mix, I'm mostly into techno, electro, industrial, breakcore, hip hop, dark drum n bass, metal...anything thats especially dark and nasty!

I'm into foreign films, comedy, thrillers and horrific horrors. As a rule of thumb I like movies that arent altogether straightforward and get you thinking, so David Lynch films always get a look in.

I'm a keen reader and would happily sack the telly in favour of a good book. I've been on a bit of a Russian theme lately but Hunter S Thompson and John Gray keep finding their way back in.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm a living embodiment of art: took part in a Spencer Tunick installation which involved getting naked with 1700 other people for 5 hours on a jaunt around Newcastle, all in the name of photography. My fine arse now adorns the arrivals lounge at Newcastle airport so foreign travellers, please take note...

Teach, Learn, Share

Can someone teach me the principles of quantum physics?! Or failing that, some Russian? In return I will teach you how to:
a) drink like an Irish person (optional but recommended)
b) talk nonsense, possibly even in German (badly)
c) get rid of a headache using Indian Head Massage
d) do really bad pilates and fall over a lot
...and an assortment of other highly constructive activities which would take too long to write about!
