About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Breaking down culture barriers across the world.

ABOUT ME

I was born in 1979 in Salvador, a beach-city in the state of Bahia, in northeastern Brazil. I'm currently going to Law school, but I work as a translator/interpreter. I've lived in Europe a few years, went to college in Greece, visited a few other countries, learned a few languages. In fact, I like learning languages very much (which is one of the reasons I became a translator), and I love learning about new cultures. I'm fairly open-minded, and I appreciate having friends who share this quality. I deeply dislike racism and ethnocentrism, in any shape or form. In my opinion, we should always strive to become better - as people, as individuals, as professionals, as parents, as sons and daughters, as human beings. Thus, I consider narrow-mindedness (which usually takes on the disguise of racism, intolerance etc.) as a retrograde step on the long road of evolution.

I enjoy peacefulness, tranquility, but I don't mind a little adventure once in a while. I love travelling, meeting new people and learning about their culture. I absolutely love multiculturalism, and even more so when it happens without intolerance, preconception or prejudice. A different opinion doesn't necessary nullify our own - rather, it is yet another possibility to do, or see, things differently.

I like music a lot, too. I love heavy metal in all of its variants, and also Classical Music. I enjoy some blues and jazz, but more the former than the latter. Some country music can be fun, too. :-)

My all-time favourite band is, without hesitation, Iron Maiden. But I listen to basically every style inside the metal world - I may not like a band, but that doesn't mean I don't like the metal style it plays. In fact, that's one of the reasons why I worked as a heavy metal journalist for years, and actually still write stories on bands and do interviews with them from time to time.

And that's pretty much it, I think. You have a general idea about me now. :-)

PHILOSOPHY

"Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends."
- J. R. R. Tolkien

"Life is pleasant, death is peaceful, it is the transition that is troublesome."
- Isaac Asimov
