ABOUT ME

Karen: My passions are music, personal growth and connection. I am a singer/songwriter. I write and perform uplifting, positive folk music as Cricket. :) I love to laugh. I try to practice seeing the good in all situations, its not always easy but there are always opportunities to try again.

Riley: I also enjoy music. I listen to a lot of vinyl records. It is time for a peaceful revolution. How does this happen? I am attempting to open my eyes and ears to what is true and not what I am being fed. I hope to contribute to the solution of our current world wide socio-economic consumer based mess, while being a kind person.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

In 2009, we traveled to India and got to surf. Those were some of the most special parts of the trip.
We have hosted in our home since we returned and it was a great way to to fulfill our cravings for travel...well, almost. We haven't hosted since we got a roommate several years ago, but we are eager to participate in the community again!

Riley:
Music: Electronic and hip hop music with bases in funk and soul. Love breakbeats and sample based music. Classic soul, Jazz, Classic Rock are all great. Can't forget raggae and Dub.
Authors: Bradburry, Salinger, Vonnegut is my favorite.

I like movies with heavy drama themes and dark comedies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Karen: 2 months backpacking in India (countless amazing things), hiking into the Grand Canyon, Burning Man 2008 and 2009, 2012, 2013, and 2014. Glacier National Park.

Riley: The Pacific Ocean.

Teach, Learn, Share

Karen: I play guitar and love to sing. I love sharing whatever is inspiring me at the moment and learning about what inspires you. I want to learn about other cultures, spirituality, and your personal story.

Riley: I have Western food and wine knowledge. Also, I am knowledgeable about classic hip hop and sample based electronic music. I can talk sports if we have to.
I would like to learn about Eastern religion, culture, philosophy, and popular Indian music. And your personal upbringing and life experience.
