About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Founding President of Human Dignity and Humiliation Studies (HumanDHS)
ABOUT ME
I am a social scientist with an interdisciplinary orientation. I hold two PhDs, one in medicine and another in psychology. I am the Founding Director and President of Human Dignity and Humiliation Studies (HumanDHS, http://www.humiliationstudies.org), a global transdisciplinary network of academics and practitioners who wish to promote dignity and transcend humiliation. In 1996, I began her research on humiliation and its role in genocide and war in Rwanda, Somalia, and Nazi Germany. My book Making Enemies: Humiliation and International Conflict was published by Praeger/Greenwood in 2006, and was honored as CHOICE 2007 Outstanding Academic Title. I design my life as a global citizen to be able to develop HumanDHS globally. I teach as Guest Professor at universities in Norway (University of Oslo), am affiliated with the Columbia University Conflict Resolution Network in New York, and the Maison des Sciences de l'Homme in Paris, and teach wherever my path leads me on all continents.
PHILOSOPHY
I wish to build a world of equality in dignity for all.
