About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To share our home in the woods, close to Lassen Natl Park in northern California
ABOUT ME
We live at the 3500 ft. level, East of Redding, CA surrounded by pine, cedar, and oak trees. We love watching the forest critters walk through our yard. We love to camp and ride ATVs. We have 2 grown sons and 2 daughters-in-law and 4 grandchildren: 2 by marriage, a boy 15 yrs and a girl 19 yrs., now at university, and a 7yr old grandson and a 4 yr old granddaughter from our youngest son & daughter-in-law.
We also have a cat, Portia, who has the run of the place! She lives indoors and loves everyone that comes to visit. That can include visiting our guests in the middle if the night with her purrs!
In 2010, Lyn had surgery and her activities are therapy exercises, reading, and relearning the activities she use to do; tennis, knitting & sewing. She's still baking, travelling & shopping!!!
Sam works in his workshop doing projects with wood, carving wood-fellows, chain saw carving of bears with welcome signs and making furniture for the house or our kids. He's a hunter of elk and deer. He also likes to ride his ATV and read novels, Financial periodicals and Hunting magazines.
PHILOSOPHY
Be kind, respectful, friendly, smile and share humor with others. Do to others as you would like them to do to you...the Golden Rule.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We're opening up our home so others can come and experience the great Northern outdoors.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We CouchSurfed for the first time in Australia with our friends, the Andersens. It was a new experience but pleasant, meeting people for the first time and having them open their home to us and providing a sleeping space. We had met several of the CouchSurfers that our friends have housed, and it was great fun talking with them and exchanging cultures.
Interests
Traveling to other countries and places in the US, camping in our 28 ft. 5th wheel trailer with our cat Portia, helping with childcare of our grandkids, keeping active and healthy. Trying new receipes and keeping in touch with friends via the internet. Lyn also likes to knit hats for our area's children's Christmas program.

Music, Movies, and Books
The music we listen to includes Country Western (on the radio in the am), Classic Rock, Classical, and Christain Rock.
The authors we have read are Grisham, Crieghton, Patterson, Rollins, Roberts, Grafton, and many more.
Movies are usally comedies or adventure. Not normally Sci-Fi.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
We drove the AL-Can Highway to and from Alaska(2007), took 5 weeks touring the US from CA through UT, WY, MT, SD, IA, KS, MO, OK,NM, and CO(2008), and spent 7 weeks traveling and learning about Australia(2009). In years past, we have traveled to Europe, Great Britain, Mexico, Italy, Greece, China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Chili, and Argentina. Trips in 2011 & 2012 were in the U.S. because flying was difficult for Lyn at that time. Went on a river cruise down the Danube thru Germany and just made it under the last bridge during the springs storm to get to Budapest to get home (2013)! 2015, traveled down the Rhine on a river cruise in the Netherlands & Belgium, then flew to Scotland and toured it and Ireland!
Teach, Learn, Share
We just expect to meet new people and learn from each other and about each other's culture, should they be from another country or another part of the US.
